As Li Wei led his army toward the Great Abyss, far away in another small Material Plane, Corellon, the Elven Main God who had just led his High Elf people away from Coriel, vaguely sensed that something about his recent condition was not quite right.
He had been dreaming often lately.
Dreaming itself was not a normal thing for a god.
Yet for some reason, he had been growing less and less able to control his emotions. He often lost focus, and whenever he did, he would fall asleep and dream—every kind of nightmare involving Lolth.
For instance, he would dream that during that battle against the Spider Queen, he had merely stood by and watched as Lolth first sent Selvetarm and Vhaeraun beneath the cold blade of his daughter Eilistraee. Then, after Eilistraee too had died, he had snatched up all the divine portfolios of the Elven pantheon before Lolth could, leaving her alone in her Abyssal Weave, her face twisted as she screamed and cursed in madness.
Or he would repeatedly dream that nightmare in which he, Lolth, and their two children were inexplicably torn apart and devoured beneath the Ancient Tree of Life.
For a time, Corellon suspected that he had been cursed by that bitch Lolth. But after examining both his body and mental state, the Main God found nothing at all.
That day, after he and his wife Angruisi completed their routine patrol of a stretch of their brand-new territory, they leaned against a newly planted Ancient Tree of Life, watching their people build wooden houses in its branches as they spoke freely of the beautiful future awaiting the Elves in this world.
All the Elves were exceedingly satisfied with this nameless small Material Plane. Its vegetation stretched far and wide, its resources were abundant,
