Ten minutes later.
"Ahhh!!"
The intense scream startled the children.
Feigning composure, they dug their toes firmly into the ground, pretending they weren't surprised.
Rolling and crawling.
After escaping the pile of rubble, the disheveled hobo professor kicked it. Fortunately, Anduin was quick enough to catch the Pyramid before it collapsed from the impact.
"Good God!" The "professor" gasped heavily, clutching his head as he looked around in panic and shock.
"Who is it!? Who's speaking inside my head!?"
He was incoherent.
Lin An wasn't surprised to see the first guest clearly frightened.
It wasn't strange at all to encounter supernatural phenomena during Doomsday. Even seeing ghosts was perfectly normal. But something that could make people hear the "Sun's Whisper" was essentially a super-level rule-based existence.
The shock it caused was unparalleled.
Humanity would feel the insignificance of being watched by a supreme existence.
It was as if someone were whispering from the depths of one's soul. Yet one would feel perfectly clearheaded, fully aware that the voice absolutely wasn't coming from the outside world, but from deep within one's mind.
"God."
"Feel inside your body. God has already granted you enlightenment."
His voice hoarse, Lin An endured the hunger in his stomach and seriously played the part of a fraud preacher.
He noticed that this scavenger looked poor, but there should be food inside the bulging backpack on his back.
It was simple. Anyone who had the time to wander around the Gathering Place and still had the strength to make such a racket here could only have obtained their food from a certain source. Lin An could guess where this professor's food had come from.
The Houston Rocket Launch Base had quite a few underground wartime facilities nearby.
The scavenger's appearance might have been a disguise.
Sure enough.
