Like the end of a movie.

In the dim ruins, White Shadow crouched atop the Mutant Giant Corpse and held the monster's heart high, squeezing the blood from it as though pressing juice from fruit.

Tilting their head back, they gulped it down.

Red, white, and black—their sweet colors formed a frozen classical oil painting.

("The mission is about to end.")

At some point, the Second Will had walked up beside Lin An. His expression indifferent, he extended his right hand:

("Some things really are hard to accept.")

("Like the first time I woke up according to the plan.")

("I thought I had saved that war and died gloriously. But after waking up, I found myself naked, curled up like a maggot inside a nutrient pod, with tubes inserted all over my body.")

As though telling someone else's story, the Second Will shrugged, a smile appearing on his face:

("So you should feel fortunate.")

("At least this place is real.")

Silence and stillness.

Lin An lowered his head and fell silent.

No one knew what Lin An had gone through inside after the Second Will revealed the truth.

Some said that beyond the collapse of emotions lay a place no human could reach.

But he seemed to have already crossed over.

After a long while, a hoarse voice rang out in the desolate darkness:

"I am Lin An."

"Nothing more."

The Second Will froze for a moment, somewhat surprised.

He had thought Lin An would need a long time to recover.

After all, no one could accept that they were actually a monster, especially when they still carried the name of a savior.
