Suddenly, an energy flared in the distance.
It was Yamcha's!
Jiang Ling was speechless.
Good grief, Yamcha again. He was always dancing on the edge of danger.
If he wasn't getting eliminated first at the World Martial Arts Tournament...
"Jiang Ling, go..."
"Mm. You get some rest."
Jiang Ling nodded, then shot toward the source of the energy.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Yamcha had been passing by a cave when Android 20, Dr. Gero, arrived and slammed him into the wall with a single palm strike.
Dr. Gero then went into his laboratory.
Seeing the laboratory doors close, and knowing he couldn't win on his own, Yamcha released his energy.
Before long, everyone arrived.
They gathered around him.
"Well, would you look at that? Yamcha found them first again. If the family cow goes missing, I guess we know who to call!"
"Cut it out. Stop joking around. The androids are in this cave."
Yamcha rolled his eyes and pointed at the cave.
Jiang Ling glanced at the massively reinforced steel door. "We can just blast it open."
Everyone nodded in agreement. They all thought it was a good idea.
Meanwhile.
Android 20, Dr. Gero, hurried back to his laboratory in a panic.
Several white pods stood inside.
Dr. Gero said through gritted teeth, "Looks like I'll have to release these two ultimate weapons!"
As he spoke, he kept glancing toward the entrance out of the corner of his eye.
Hiss—
One of the pods opened.
Inside lay a black-haired young man with a handsome face that was only slightly less attractive than Jiang Ling's.
He slowly opened his eyes and looked at the old man in front of him, Dr. Gero.
Dr. Gero quickly snatched up the controller on the table. If the young man so much as made a move, he would press the stop button!
Clearly, he couldn't perfectly control his own creations.
"Android 17, can you hear me?"
Dr. Gero asked cautiously.
The young man known as Android 17 had already spotted the remote in Dr. Gero's hand. His eyes flickered.
He smiled faintly. "Greetings, Doctor. How may I be of service?"
"You're talking to me?"
Dr. Gero was a little surprised.
He loosened his grip on the remote.
Android 17 maintained a polite smile. "Yes, Dr. Gero."
"Looks like my modifications worked!"
Dr. Gero grew excited.
Then he opened the pod beside it.
Inside was a blonde young woman, with smooth, fair cheeks, a pretty face, and a tall, elegant figure.
She slowly opened her eyes.
The first person she saw was Dr. Gero.
Then she looked toward her younger brother, Android 17.
Android 17 gave her a look, signaling that the Doctor had the controller and she shouldn't make a move.
Android 18 noticed the controller too. She smiled politely and nodded. "Hello, Doctor. Is there anything you need?"
Dr. Gero tested them, still half-skeptical. "Do you really obey my orders?"
"Yes, Doctor. After all, you're the one who modified me." Android 18 smiled.
Dr. Gero nodded.
Then he pointed outside and said to the two androids, "I want you to kill the enemies out there."
"Sure thing, Gero—"
Before Android 17 could finish, his dark eyes flashed. He kicked Dr. Gero in the arm, snapping it.
Smack!
Dr. Gero's arm, along with the remote, fell into a corner.
There was no blood at the severed end, only a mass of wires, crackling with electricity.
"W-what?!"
Dr. Gero's eyes filled with disbelief.
"Didn't you... didn't you submit to me?"
Android 17 sneered. "I was lying. If you hadn't been clutching that remote, you think I'd have gone to all that trouble to fool you?"
"Damn you!"
Dr. Gero cursed and rushed toward the corner, trying to grab the remote.
But in the next instant, Android 18's hand pierced straight through his chest.
Crackle...
Electricity flashed violently.
Android 17 delivered the finishing blow, smashing Dr. Gero's head.
His movements were clean and decisive, without the slightest hesitation.
And so, a renowned genius biologist met his end!
Boom!!!
A loud rumble came from outside.
The next moment, the laboratory doors were blasted apart.
The Earth's warriors appeared outside.
Android 17 and Android 18 exchanged a glance, unconcerned.
Instead, they walked over to a pod nearby and opened it.
A towering, muscular man was inside.
His hairstyle was a little unusual.
A pineapple head!
His eyes held a profound, philosophical air...
It was Android 16.
Rumor had it that Dr. Gero had modeled this fully robotic android after his own son.
Outside, Krillin furrowed his brow.
"Why did they kill that skinny android? Weren't they on the same side?"
"Probably not."
Yamcha offered his opinion.
Gohan pondered for a moment, then said, "Maybe they didn't like their boss, so they killed him and took over."
"Gohan makes a good point."
"Being well-read really does make a difference."
Gohan scratched his head and chuckled. "I just watch a lot of TV..."
"..."
"Good grief..."
Jiang Ling stepped forward and explained, "Strictly speaking, Dr. Gero was a bad person. He kidnapped these siblings when they were young and modified them."
"I see. I learned something new!"
"Good grief!"
Androids 16, 17, and 18 heard Jiang Ling speaking so confidently and looked at him in surprise.
"Hmph! I don't care whether they're good or bad. These two are my opponents, so none of you better interfere!" Vegeta said viciously.
He seemed to be speaking to everyone, but he was really talking to Jiang Ling.
Jiang Ling spread his hands.
Vegeta stared at the three androids inside. A vicious glint flashed in his eyes.
He raised his hand and hurled two energy blasts inside.
Boom!!
Rumble!!
The energy blasts exploded inside the cave.
The group hurriedly retreated into the open sky outside.
The mountain around the cave crumbled too.
Thick smoke billowed everywhere.
"How are they?" Krillin asked nervously.
Jiang Ling waved a hand. "An attack that weak won't hurt them."
Sure enough.
Three figures burst out of the smoke.
They stood facing Jiang Ling and the others, staring them down.
"You dirtied my clothes!"
Anger flashed in Android 18's beautiful eyes.
She glared straight at Vegeta.
"Hmph! So what?" Vegeta snorted, completely unconcerned.
Whoosh!!
Android 18 vanished, reappearing in front of Vegeta. She swung a whiplash kick, her long leg lashing into him!
Caught off guard, Vegeta felt an enormous force hit him before he could even see her.
He was sent flying and slammed into a stone pillar.
The pillar shattered, and the rubble fell onto him.
Vegeta spat out a mouthful of blood!
Jiang Ling simply stood by and watched.
He felt Vegeta had gotten carried away. Just because he'd transformed into a Super Saiyan 1, he was acting like he owned the world.
This was the perfect chance to knock him down a peg.
