Winterfell, Great Hall.
Robb sat beside Ned, distracted, staring at the fried fish on his plate with no appetite at all.
After parting ways with Garon, he had gathered everyone who discovered Bran and questioned them one by one.
However, their accounts were almost identical; they all claimed to have heard Hodor calling for help and rushed over, with nothing suspicious to report.
As for Hodor, who had found Bran first—
He was simple-minded and could only shout "Hodor, Hodor."
The two of them were completely unable to communicate.
Robb tried many methods, even having him use hand gestures and asking Hodor's great-grandmother to translate.
But in the end, he still came up empty-handed.
With no other choice, Robb decided to return to the Great Hall first to see what the situation was with Garon and Jon.
However, when he returned to the hall, he found that the two of them had not yet come back.
Robb scanned the hall; Ned was dining with the King and the Queen.
Theon and Tyrion the Imp were sitting at another long table enjoying their dinner.
Jaime Lannister, clad in golden armor with a longsword at his waist, stood behind Cersei, silently scrutinizing Robb as he entered.
Robb stood at the doorway, and just as he was about to speak, Ned kept him there to dine with the King.
He had no choice but to sit beside Ned.
Robert noticed his lack of appetite, understanding that he was still worried about Bran, so he set down his knife and fork and asked.
"Robb, how is the investigation going?"
"Have you found the culprit who harmed Bran?"
As soon as the words fell, Theon at the other table trembled, as if he had heard something terrifying.
The wine cup he was about to drink from slipped from his hand and crashed heavily onto the floor.
Bang—
It drew side-glances from the others.
The sound of the cup hitting the floor made Cersei's heart skip a beat.
She glared at Theon with dissatisfaction, making Theon even more nervous as he stammered, "So... sorry..."
Before he could finish, he bent down to pick up the cup with his bandaged right hand.
Opposite him, Tyrion watched this scene, lost in thought.
Jaime frowned slightly, cursed the fool under his breath, and stepped in to defuse the situation: "Searching for a culprit? Didn't Bran fall from the tower on his own?"
Robb looked at the Kingslayer and explained, "My brother Bran is extremely skilled at climbing walls; he has climbed so many times before without incident."
"But this time, something went wrong, so I fear someone harmed him!"
Upon hearing this, Cersei's heart settled back down. "That child is only ten years old; even adults can make mistakes, let alone Bran."
"I think instead of looking for someone who doesn't exist, you should think about how to save Bran's life."
"The poor child hasn't even woken up yet!"
Robert looked at Cersei impatiently and said with annoyance, "If you don't know how to speak, then shut up!"
Seeing Cersei fall silent, he looked back at Robb and said, "Where are the Giant Bear Slayer and your bastard brother?"
"Why haven't they come?"
After the bear hunt during the day, Garon's nickname had spread rapidly upon returning to Winterfell.
Jaime and Tyrion had also heard from their own knights about Garon hunting a giant bear alone and rescuing Joffrey during the day.
It had left them both deeply shocked.
Robb replied, "After leaving Bran's bedroom, we split into two groups."
"Garon and Jon went to survey the scene, and I was responsible for gathering clues from the time of the incident to see if there were any suspicious leads."
"But the first person to reach Bran was Hodor, and since he has some intellectual disabilities, I didn't find anything."
Jaime and Cersei exchanged a look, feeling even more at ease.
Ned shook his head, clearly not optimistic about Garon and Jon's investigation.
"That place has been crowded since Bran's accident; even if there were clues, they would have been destroyed long ago."
"They are on a wild goose chase..."
"That's not necessarily true!"
At that moment, Garon walked into the hall with Jon. "Lord Ned, Jon and I made some discoveries at the Broken Tower!"
As soon as these words were spoken, everyone in the hall was shaken.
Ned and Robert stood up in unison, asking in one voice, "What discoveries?"
Garon stepped forward and signaled for Jon to take out the wooden box containing the moss, placing it onto the long table and opening it.
The others immediately crowded around.
"Jon and I went to the Broken Tower to investigate, but the place where Bran fell had been trampled, leaving no clues behind."
Garon first described the investigation he and Jon had conducted, then pointed to the wooden box and said, "But fortunately, we made a discovery on the stone steps of the Broken Tower!"
"Your Grace, Lord Ned, please look!"
Seeing that everyone's attention was drawn to the box, Garon reached out and opened it.
Instantly—
The moss inside, stained with blood and flecked with milky, foul-smelling solids, came into everyone's view.
"This is..."
Ned still couldn't bring himself to believe it, but Garon pointed to the moss in the box and said, "Jon and I found footprints on the stone steps of the Broken Tower."
"Upon closer inspection, we discovered..."
"On the hundreds of stone steps from the bottom of the tower to the top, there were droplets of blood on the moss at almost every interval, clearly visible!"
"Furthermore, there were quite a few traces of blood in the room at the top of the tower as well!"
He scanned the crowd and said meaningfully, "Therefore, I can assert that Bran's fall was by no means an accident, but a deliberate act by someone!"
In an instant.
As Garon's voice echoed through the hall, the calm expression on Cersei's face vanished, and her eyes turned toward Jaime in panic.
Even Jaime began to grow tense.
However, in just a brief moment, he steadied his mind once again.
Jaime met Cersei's gaze and gave her a slight shake of his head, signaling her to calm down.
Afterward, he glanced nonchalantly at the panicked Theon standing to the side, inwardly cursing him as a "useless fool."
A flash of murderous intent crossed Jaime's eyes, and his hand slowly moved to the hilt of his sword, as if ready to strike Theon down at any moment.
However, Jaime's subtle movement was caught by Tyrion, who stood nearby.
Tyrion realized in an instant that Jaime and Cersei must certainly be involved in the matter regarding Bran.
My dear brother, you have truly presented me with a difficult problem...
His expression turned grave; he turned, picked up a goblet from the long table, took a sharp gulp of wine, and began to ponder how to handle the situation.
Suddenly, an idea struck Tyrion, and he walked over to the wooden box, pointing to the milky solids inside to ask.
"Garon, what are these?"
Garon glanced at Tyrion and shook his head, saying, "I am not entirely sure; these solids were found alongside the bloodstains."
"However, they were distributed in different locations."
"I intend to have Maester Luwin identify them. Lord Ned, what do you think?"
Ned nodded and looked toward Theon, instructing, "Theon, go and fetch Maester Luwin!"
But Theon remained standing there in a daze, staring fixedly at the blood-stained moss in the box, his heart filled with panic.
"Theon?"
Ned called out again, puzzled.
Garon fixed his gaze on Theon and immediately noticed the bandage wrapped around his right wrist, a thought suddenly occurring to him.
So, the bloodstains were left by you!
Robert ignored Ned's voice, instead staring curiously at the moss in the box to examine it closely.
He leaned down and took a serious sniff of the wooden box, a familiar, pungent odor hitting his nostrils.
"Strange, such a familiar smell..."
"It's just like... just like..."
Suddenly, he slapped his thigh and shouted, "Isn't this the bodily fluid left behind after finishing the deed!"
