Chen Feng placed second in Qingshi Town's sect-recruitment assessment, where his fierce swordsmanship distinguished him as a fifth-level Body Tempering cultivator. He accepted Elder Xu's offer to join Qingyun Sect as an outer disciple alongside Lin Ye and Zhou Ming. 3

He initially shared Grade D Dormitory 73 with Lin Ye and Zhou Ming. Unlike Zhou Ming, Chen Feng rarely left except to cultivate and spoke little. When the group was surrounded by Blood Fiend Hall, Chen Feng argued that Su Muxue should escape with Shui Linglong and the Shuiyue Token rather than remain and die with him and the unconscious Lin Ye. He stayed behind to hold the enemy at the entrance, suffering a sword through the chest before collapsing. 50
