Glaton, the Level 5 bishop, carefully poured the pig manure extract onto the statue of the Forest Mother Goddess. He had no choice but to be careful. If even a trace of the pig manure extract's stench contaminated any of the nearby statues, not even a hundred deaths would be enough to atone for his crime.
The moment the pig manure extract touched the Forest Mother Goddess's statue, white light flickered from it, and a shrill, agonized scream flooded Glaton's soul.
The nearby statue of the God of Death flashed with light, and a protective barrier appeared around Glaton. Through the divine thought within the statue, the God of Death had bestowed a defensive shield upon him.
Desecrating a god's statue was no easy matter. The retaliation of the divine thought within the statue was not something an ordinary believer could endure.
Lights flashed across one statue after another. The evil gods were all using their statues to watch the actions of the God of Death's follower.
None of those gods stopped Glaton. It was obvious that this had been ordered by the God of Death, but more importantly, the Forest Mother Goddess was weak and had lost contact with them. They also wished to use this opportunity to force the Forest Mother Goddess to respond.
Within the Forest Mother Goddess's small world, the Forest Mother Goddess had long stopped paying attention to the divine thoughts within the statues in Twilight of the Gods. The goddess had even thought that it did not matter if those divine thoughts were lost.
After all, the Forest Mother Goddess was now living a most comfortable life, spending every day doing what the goddess loved most—planting and crafting divine artifacts—without needing to consider dangerous battles or future survival.
