Chapter 25 Intrusion
The Shadow Servant controlled by David appeared before the security computer. It tapped lightly on the screen, and the permissions page appeared.
The Shadow Servant did not bother with the permissions page; instead, it began typing rapidly into the security computer. If the wrong input were entered three times on the permissions page, it would lock down and trigger an alarm.
This was the final line of defense for the security computer. However, if a 98% proficiency-level Electronic Warfare Specialist could not crack this defense at close range, then that level of electronic warfare capability would truly be worthless.
In just twenty seconds, the permissions page vanished automatically, and the main operating interface appeared on the security computer.
David, who was drinking fruit juice in the banquet hall, could not help but reveal a satisfied smile on his face.
Setting everything else aside, just by relying on his electronic warfare ability, he could live quite well in this world. The Shadow Servant had greatly enhanced his electronic warfare capabilities.
Although the Shadow Servant only possessed one hundred grams of strength, this amount of force was almost useless for combat, but it was more than enough for operating a computer.
The Shadow Servant opened the list of all high-level administrators at the Steer Hotel, identified an account that had not been logged into for a long time, enabled remote login permissions, and left a hidden program within the security computer.
The purpose of the hidden program was to automatically remove the traces of the account he was controlling, turning it into a ghost account.
Just as he finished the final step, enthusiastic applause rang out in his ears; Mayor Bernard's speech had concluded.
With the end of Mayor Bernard's speech, the banquet officially began. Many high-status guests surrounded Mayor Bernard, while the remaining guests sought out those whose status matched their own.
Every person's face displayed the most cordial smile; everyone here looked like a well-bred gentleman or lady.
David saw Bertha chatting with several noblewomen, and his father, Hans, was talking to a young man who looked to be in his twenties. The two seemed to be having a very heated discussion.
Hans saw David at this moment and waved him over.
David knew that Hans wanted to introduce connections to him. Although he did not want these connections, he did not want to change the relationship he had just restored with Hans, so he walked over while holding his fruit juice.
"Hans, is this your son? Not bad at all!" The young man looked quite handsome, but his tone was very arrogant, completely adopting the attitude of an elder.
"David, this is your Uncle Gallen, a brother who went through life and death with me on the War Star back in the day!" Hans introduced him to David with a smile.
David looked at this young man named Gallen in surprise. According to what Hans said, Gallen should be at least fifty years old. Although the average lifespan of humans in the Interstellar Federation was two hundred years, a fifty-year-old face should not look this young.
"Uncle Gallen!" Despite his surprise, David still said it politely.
"Since you've called me uncle, there must be a gift. How about this: as long as you can reach the minimum standards for strength and speed before the college entrance exam, I will help you get into the Armored Warrior department of Na'an University!" Gallen looked at David and said with a smile.
David was astonished by Gallen's bold claim. Na'an University was the best university on Panshi Planet and the goal of his predecessor, but Na'an University was not that easy to get into.
A strength of 800 kilograms and a 100-meter sprint time of 8.5 seconds were merely the standards to participate in the exam. After meeting these standards, one still had to undergo a combat ability test, and Na'an University would select the best from among them.
"David, aren't you going to thank your Uncle Gallen?" Hans gave David a gentle nudge, reminding him.
"Thank you, Uncle Gallen!" David hurriedly expressed his gratitude.
"David, your father has never asked anyone for a favor in his life. This time, when you were attacked, he came to me. I will stay here for this period to handle the affairs of the Sirius Mercenary Group." Gallen glanced at Hans and then said to David.
"Gallen, why bring that up?" Hans patted Gallen lightly and said.
"Hans, what's wrong with caring about your son? He was lucky this time to have escaped with his life from a group of armored mercenary warriors. The Sirius Mercenary Group won't get away with it. When the Fifth Fleet heard that your son had been attacked by interstellar mercenaries, they directly blockaded the entire Panshi Planet!" Gallen said with a smile.
"I've troubled my old friends over this matter!" Hans shook his head and sighed.
"A 'National Scholar' must not be insulted; that is an iron rule. Even though you don't want real power, your honor and influence remain." Gallen said in a deep voice. He then looked at David, who was standing to the side, and continued: "The Sirius Mercenary Group is finished. I am staying here because I'm afraid they might be desperate and cause trouble for David. Additionally, I will take this opportunity to mentor David. With his current physical condition, he wouldn't be able to keep up with the pace even if he were thrown into Na'an University!"
"Mr. Gallen, I wonder if you could include my son when you mentor David?" Just then, Mayor Bernard had arrived at their side and asked with a smile.
David saw the teenager following Mayor Bernard; it was Myron, with whom he had just been talking. At this moment, Myron was waving at him.
"David, since he is your friend, let's do it together!" Seeing the way Myron and David interacted, Gallen did not refuse. After all, teaching one was the same as teaching two.
David was about to say something, but Hans gave him a gentle nudge. He realized that there seemed to be a transaction involved that he was unaware of.
It seemed that Myron coming to chat with him today was not a coincidence, but had a purpose.
However, seeing Myron's somewhat sycophantic smile—a mayor's son being so humble—he didn't know what to say.
At the same time, he remembered the "big shot" Myron had mentioned; it seemed to be this extremely young-looking Gallen.
"David, what weapon do you use?" Myron and David walked to the side, not disturbing the conversation between Hans, Gallen, and Mayor Bernard. In any case, Myron and David did not want to participate in their talk.
"I've studied the long sword before, but I want to try the war hammer in the future. I also want to see if I have any talent for sniping!" David thought of the 82% proficiency-level War Hammer Mastery Knowledge Light Orb and the 20% proficiency-level Sniping Knowledge Light Orb. He didn't commit to anything, leaving himself some room.
"Why not continue learning the long sword? The long sword is so cool. That war hammer thing is just for manual laborers!" Myron seemed to be studying Long Sword Mastery as well, so he objected.
Before he could finish, Mayor Bernard casually gave him a knock on the head.
Although the two teenagers hadn't spoken loudly, the three people right next to them had heard everything clearly.
"Mr. Gallen, I'm sorry. Myron is just a child who doesn't know any better!" Mayor Bernard looked at Gallen apologetically.
"It doesn't matter. I will make Myron change his mind in the coming days!" Gallen, who had always used a war hammer, looked at Myron and said with a smile.
Myron regretted it so much he almost wanted to bang his head against a wall. No matter how slow he was, he understood he had said the wrong thing.
Fortunately, the three men didn't pay much attention to the two teenagers, and after a few words, they continued their own conversation.
"Sigh, the coming days are going to be tough!" Myron said softly.
"It's fine. Having someone to mentor us is a rare opportunity." David was actually looking forward to Gallen's guidance.
He had recently been stuck at 99% entry-level Body Technique, which prevented his physical attributes from increasing. Although he had been practicing very hard lately, the difficulty increased the further he progressed.
He also knew this was because his foundation was not solid. Body Technique was the root of everything. His previous mastery of Body Technique was too poor, and this leap-style improvement meant his body needed some time to digest these gains.
In the ten days since he had arrived in this world, no one had guided his practice, and he needed some pointers to identify his shortcomings.
"Right, you mentioned a talent for Sniping. How about I take you to a shooting range sometime to test it out?" Myron suggested enthusiastically.
"Sure, but it will have to wait a while; I'm busy lately." David did not refuse his kindness; in fact, he also needed to wait until he had integrated the Knowledge Light Orb of Sniping to test his own abilities.
"Of course you're busy lately!" Myron glanced at Gallen again, saying helplessly.
Mayor Bernard naturally would not stay here for too long; he still needed to socialize with many people at this New Year's Eve reception. Although he was reluctant to give up the chance to converse with Gallen, he left after staying for a while.
