Trainer Jeremy's head burst like a smashed watermelon, red flesh and white brain matter scattering as he toppled backward.

All of his tricks had been useless against a sniper bullet fired at close range.

After Trainer Jeremy fell, the needle-sharp pain David had felt miraculously vanished. His mind was still sluggish, but he could move again.

The Shadow Servant flew eagerly toward where Trainer Jeremy had fallen, as if it had spotted a delicious treat. It took a deep breath over the corpse, and that soul-enchanting sensation followed.

Even though David experienced it through only a portion of his consciousness, it left him dazed for ten seconds.

But he couldn't let his guard down now. Trainer Jeremy, the major threat, was gone, but he still needed to deal with the aftermath quickly.

He staggered to his feet and went over to Trainer Jeremy. Seeing that half the man's head was missing, he finally felt reassured.

The Shadow Servant had absorbed a soul, but David hadn't seen Trainer Jeremy actually die. He still wasn't entirely at ease.

Trainer Jeremy was the most cunning and formidable opponent David had ever encountered. Even Gallen needed close-fitting armor to bring his strength into play. Trainer Jeremy, by contrast, had fought entirely on his own.

In particular, the White Light Armor and White Light Shield, both exceptionally strong in defense, had allowed Trainer Jeremy to move at a terrifying speed.

David even thought that if he had faced Trainer Jeremy head-on while he was wearing the White Light Armor, he might not have been able to withstand a single move. When Trainer Jeremy charged at him earlier, he had shown not only speed but tremendous strength.
