Among the three Wolf Cavalrymen,
Colby had the highest Loyalty and fought the bravest.
Between today's battle and yesterday's encounter with the Goblin Tribe,
the Leather Armor he wore had become tattered and torn.
In other words, his gear was nearly out of durability.
It looked like Zong Shen would have to think about getting Colby a new set soon.
He turned around, ready to focus on taking on the Priest Undead with Tie Zhu.
Zong Shen focused his attention on it, and its attributes immediately appeared before his eyes.
[Resentful Dead lv8] [Race: Undead] [Blunt Damage: 11–13] [Magic Damage: 32–37] [Health: 208/245] [Magic Value: 80/150] [Armor: 8] [Skills: Green Energy Arrow lv1 (2-second cast time, costs 20 Magic Value, deals 1.1 times Magic Damage), Thorn Entanglement lv1 (5-second cast time, costs 50 Magic Value, summons thorny vines from underground to ensnare enemies, immobilizing them and dealing 3 damage per second), Passive Skill Thorn Thorns lv1 (launches a counterattack against attackers, dealing damage equal to 10% of the attack)]
(A squishy little priest, full of weaknesses. As long as you can interrupt its spellcasting with timely attacks, you can deal with it easily.)
The Priest Undead had little health and low armor, but it had a full three skills.
Its main form of attack was magic skills that dealt Magic Damage.
Armor couldn't defend against Magic Damage.
Only the much rarer Magic Resistance attribute could reduce damage from magic.
But earlier, Zong Shen and the others had been too busy to stop the Priest Undead from casting.
Now that Zong Shen and Tie Zhu were taking it on together, they could keep it from casting even a single spell.
"Attack!"
Zong Shen had figured out everything about it. Seeing the Priest Undead raise its staff again, he drew his sword and lunged at it in an instant.
He gave Tie Zhu an order at the same time.
His sword struck the Priest Undead hard in the head.
[-46]
A bright red damage number appeared.
Thorns sprang up immediately.
A damage number of [-5] appeared above Zong Shen's head, too.
Then Tie Zhu appeared from the shadows like a ghost, striking from both sides as he stabbed twice with his daggers.
[-37]
[-37]
Two damage numbers floated up.
The counterattack effect cost Tie Zhu another 8 Health.
The Priest Undead had no way to fight back. Unable to cast spells, it was like a tiger without teeth.
It had just 88 Health left.
Zong Shen stepped in and struck again.
[-46]
But the Priest Undead gave up casting and swung its staff at Zong Shen's Bull Horn Helmet.
"Clang!"
[-1]
A point of forced damage appeared above Zong Shen's head. Its blunt attack couldn't even penetrate his defenses; it had only dealt the minimum 1 damage.
"Pah!"
Zong Shen spat at the Priest Undead, then drove his sword into its chest with one final thrust.
[-42]
At last, the Priest Undead turned into a beam of white light and disappeared, leaving only a few little orbs of light behind.
[Defeated lv8 Resentful Dead] [Received 130 experience]
A flash of white light passed over Zong Shen as he leveled up once more, fully restoring his Health.
Nearby, Tie Zhu also reached lv2, and all his lost Health was restored.
But it wasn't so easy for the three Wolf Cavalrymen to level up.
They had all started at level 10, and it took far more experience for them to level up than it did for Zong Shen and Tie Zhu.
After Zong Shen's group finished the fight,
only five Undead remained on the field.
Three of them had been badly wounded by the Wolf Cavalrymen's fierce attacks and were barely clinging to life.
Of the other two, one also carried a staff.
This one was different from the Priest Undead. Its robe was covered in bone patterns, and atop its staff sat a fearsome skull wreathed in ghostly green flames.
Three white bone shards circled it, spinning without pause.
It waved its staff and chanted briefly. The ground bulged, and two Skeleton Warriors wielding rusty swords climbed out.
"Would you look at that? Isn't that what a necromancer does?"
"Tie Zhu, go help them!"
Zong Shen focused on the Undead who seemed to be a necromancer.
[Resentful Necromancer lv11 (Green)] [Race: Undead] [Blunt Damage: 18–24] [Magic Damage: 46–49] [Health: 285/285] [Magic Value: 180/230] [Armor: 13] [Skills: Summon Skeleton lv1 (2-second cast time, costs 50 Magic Value, summons two lv1 Skeleton Warriors that can remain on the field for 10 minutes, 15-minute cooldown), Necrotic Arrow lv1 (1.5-second cast time, costs 20 Magic Value, fires a Necrotic Arrow that deals 1.1 times Magic Damage), Bone Armor lv1 (summons three pieces of Bone Armor, each with a durability of 20, lasts 5 minutes, 15-minute cooldown)]
(This is a formidable opponent for you right now. Do your best to enjoy the thrill of battle.)
Would you look at that—a green-name elite monster.
It was a cut above the ordinary white-name Undead.
And what's more, it was a rare necromancer.
By then, the three Wolf Cavalrymen had finished off their respective opponents.
They were now moving with Tie Zhu to surround the remaining Necromancer and the Shortsword Undead.
Zong Shen turned his attention to the two skeletons.
[Skeleton Warrior lv1] [Race: Undead] [Slash Damage: 15–18] [Health: 120] [Armor: 0]
Two basic skeletons—those should be easy to deal with!
The two skeletons and the other Shortsword Undead headed straight for the Wolf Cavalrymen, clearly intent on slowing their attacks.
But Tie Zhu had already used the shadows to reach the Necromancer.
"Whoosh!"
"Bang!"
His dagger slashed out.
One of the three bone shards around the Necromancer shattered with a crack.
Another was badly damaged.
In that brief opening, the Necromancer finished casting a Necrotic Arrow!
Dark necromantic energy gathered into a sharp arrow and struck Tie Zhu in the chest.
A burst of black light erupted.
"Bang!"
"Ah..."
[-50]
A large damage number appeared above Tie Zhu's head.
It instantly took nearly a third of his Health.
He cried out in pain as the force of the Necrotic Arrow sent him flying.
The three Wolf Cavalrymen were busy fighting the Skeleton Warriors and the Shortsword Undead with all their might.
No one could interrupt the Necromancer's spellcasting.
At the same time, the Necromancer raised its staff again, preparing to finish off the wounded Tie Zhu.
Zong Shen didn't hesitate. He raised his brows and charged forward behind his Kite Shield.
As soon as the Necrotic Arrow shot out,
he had already rushed in with his shield raised, placing himself in front of Tie Zhu.
"Come on!"
