Power Progression
| Stage / Realm / Level | Chapter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Soul-ring enhancement | 53 | Estimates that each teammate absorbed approximately 400–500 years' worth of spiritual power. Her share, like Tang Wulin's, was concentrated mainly into one soul ring. |
| Five-ring Soul King | 242 | Reveals five black, ten-thousand-year soul rings during her private battle with Situ Xuan. Her apparent three-ring Soul Elder strength had been a disguise, not her actual limit. |
| Greater release of Silver Dragon King power | 426 | Stops holding back after Situ Xuan's provocation and draws on her inherited elemental authority. Their collision produces a massive shockwave and tsunami; no new soul-power rank is specified. |
| Six-ring Soul Emperor | 430 | Explicitly identified as a six-ring Soul Emperor after the sea duel. The circumstances of her breakthrough are not described. |
| Golden Dragon King bloodline absorption | 498 | Draws escaping bloodline power from Tang Wulin while Di Tian guards her. Golden and silver origins resonate, qualitatively strengthening her aura. |
| Integration of the two dragon origins | 499 | Incorporates Golden Dragon King power into her Silver Dragon King origin. A golden thread appears within her silver light, producing Dragon God pressure and strengthening her elemental manifestations. |
| Further bloodline-fed enhancement | 531 | Repeated absorption makes her fourth soul skill, the Elemental Staff, more solid and powerful. She believes she can defeat an ordinary Soul Saint without drawing on her full Silver Dragon King essence; this is her assessment, not a confirmed realm breakthrough. |
Background / History
Origin and divided identity
The Silver Dragon King originated when the Asura God split the Dragon God into two beings. The Golden Dragon King was sealed in the Divine Realm, while the gravely wounded Silver Dragon King escaped to the lower realm and slept for countless ages. By the time she awakened, humanity had become the dominant race 560.
Gu Yue is Gu Yuena's primary personality. Na'er carries the tenderness and human attachments separated from her, including her affection for Tang Wulin. Gu Yue eventually cuts away this portion—described as thirty percent of her essence and feelings—to return fully to her responsibilities as the Silver Dragon King 242 531 548 560. Later, Na'er is described as having been devoured and fused into Gu Yuena, although an attachment to Tang Wulin remains within her consciousness 876.
Donghai Academy
At Donghai Academy, Gu Yue was a quiet, exceptionally gifted student who often sat in a classroom corner. Wu Zhangkong appointed her vice-monitor of Zero Class for her elemental control, tactical judgment, and willingness to sacrifice herself for the team 41 242.
She fought alongside Tang Wulin and the other students, providing ranged suppression and defensive support. During one Soul Beast trial, she stayed behind to cover her companions against a millennium-level beast and exhausted her strength. Rather than resent the defeat, she reviewed her elemental usage and decisions afterward 30 41 43.
Appearance
- Human guise: Long, glossy black hair, fair skin, delicate features, and a slender figure. Her black hair is sometimes tied into a ponytail, and later recollections describe it reaching her waist 323 420 500 778.
- Eyes: Described as black in several human-form scenes and purple in others 177 234 249 500.
- Bearing: Maintains a cold, noble presence even beside the much taller Situ Xuan 288.
- Clothing: Wears Shrek's dark-green first-year uniform at school and simple white or moon-white dresses in later encounters 323 420 500.
- Draconic traits: Silver scales, dragon horns, and purple vertical pupils emerge while she absorbs Golden Dragon King bloodline power 498.
- Gu Yuena appearance: Silver hair, violet eyes, fair skin, and an elegant white dress. In Dragon Valley, she initially conceals her face with a silver veil 651.
Personality
Gu Yue is usually reserved, observant, and composed. Her early conduct combines clear tactical thinking with genuine concern for her teammates: she protects their retreat, accepts responsibility as vice-monitor, and examines her mistakes without dwelling on resentment 41 43. She is also proud of her identity and authority, initially treating Situ Xuan's recruitment as an opportunity for him to submit to her leadership 249.
Her obligations to the Soul Beast race conflict with personal attachment and ambition. Situ Xuan challenges her habit of looking backward and forward rather than acting on her present desires. Their rivalry gradually draws out frankness, exhilaration, and a determination to surpass him 322 397 427 531. Leng Yaozhu's teasing also exposes embarrassment beneath her normally cool exterior 316.
After separating Na'er's affectionate side, Gu Yue becomes increasingly calculating. She deliberately exploits Tang Wulin's emotional instability and plans to turn his friendships into instruments of despair so that she can recover his Golden Dragon King power 498 560. This detachment is not absolute: she spends part of a long-preserved reserve to help Situ Xuan survive, and later spares Tang Wulin because of Na'er's lingering attachment 455 876.
Abilities & Skills
Elemental Mastery
Gu Yue commands multiple elements simultaneously, combining them into attacks, barriers, and battlefield control. Her established sevenfold combinations use fire, water or ice, earth, wind, light, darkness, and space; an early scene also depicts lightning among the energies gathered around her fingers 30 245 424 531.
- Creates fire seas, waves, earth spikes, hurricanes, and intertwined light-and-dark attacks 245.
- Fuses elements rather than merely releasing separate attacks, including a Wind-Rock Wall that combines wind's swiftness with earth's weight 244 248.
- Uses elemental interference to deflect and weaken incoming ranged attacks 111.
- Her elemental connection can be disrupted: Situ Xuan severs her control during an early team battle 31.
Elemental Tide — First Soul Skill
Elemental Tide releases a chaotic surge of several elements at once 242.
- Combines fire, water, earth, and wind into simultaneous eruptions 242.
- Uses opposing elements to generate steam, debris, and defensive interference 111 242.
- Its later Sevenfold Waves application incorporates seven elements. Observation equipment records energy beyond ordinary Soul Emperor standards and approaching the Soul Saint threshold 424.
Elemental Control — Second Soul Skill
Elemental Control allows Gu Yue to restrain opponents through the surrounding elemental energies 243.
- Forms invisible elemental chains around Situ Xuan 243.
- Creates an Elemental Cage powerful enough to force Xie Xie to one knee and disarm him 325.
- Can be overcome by sufficient opposing power: Situ Xuan breaks her chains with the Dragon-Turning Breathing Method 243.
Elemental Staff — Fourth Soul Skill
The Elemental Staff is formed by weaving seven elements together. Its fourth soul ring is black, and the staff's core channels large-scale elemental attacks 245 531.
- Serves as a close-range parrying weapon and a focus for elemental assaults 245.
- Supports her invocation of Silver Dragon King authority through ancient Dragon Language 246.
- Becomes more solid after bloodline absorption, gaining seven-coloured light along its shaft and a faint dragon image within its core 531.
Spatial Manipulation
Gu Yue uses space power for movement, positioning, and concealed attacks 244 245 248.
- Teleports away from an elemental wall before Situ Xuan breaks through it 244.
- Conceals Elemental Missiles and launches surprise attacks through spatial manipulation 245.
- Slows Situ Xuan and attacks with a dimensional elemental beam 248.
- Spatial disturbance and Malevolent Qi can interfere with her movement. One failed teleport leaves her exposed to a direct punch 19 246.
Silver Dragon King Authority
Gu Yue inherits elemental control and wisdom from the Dragon God. Her deeper power extends beyond ordinary soul-skill use 246 426.
- Uses silver energy described as commanding laws to erode Situ Xuan's combined powers 427.
- Defends with a Seven-Coloured Light Shield 427.
- Detonates an incomplete Elemental Collapse, severely injuring Situ Xuan's right arm 427.
- Draws down destructive light exceeding Soul Saint power, though Situ Xuan cuts through it with Golden Skyline 429.
Bloodline Absorption and Dragon God Restoration
The shared Dragon God origin of Gu Yue and Tang Wulin allows her to absorb Golden Dragon King power whenever his bloodline becomes unstable 498 531.
- Circulates her essence to draw in escaping bloodline energy without directly seizing it by force 531.
- Integrates the absorbed origin into elemental control, strengthening each manifestation rather than simply adding another layer of energy 499.
- Plans to weaken the God-King-level seal through Tang Wulin's negative emotions, then reunite the Golden and Silver Dragon King powers 560.
- Her intended restoration of the Dragon God is presented as a means of giving Soul Beasts a chance against humanity's institutions, not as an already completed transformation 560.
Dragon God Dragon Soul
In Dragon Valley, Gu Yuena summons the Dragon God Dragon Soul after Situ Xuan's acupoint attacks incapacitate her. It accepts her as its inheritor 655.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Elemental Staff — A weapon manifested through her fourth soul skill, used for parrying and directing elemental power 245 531.
- Dragon Spear — Summoned when she reveals her Silver Dragon King form and challenges Situ Xuan. She can influence it remotely even after he takes it from her 459 460.
- Armoured soul car — A heavily protected vehicle Situ Xuan identifies as military-grade; used for their journey to Spirit Pagoda headquarters 288.
- Veil — Worn with her silver-haired Gu Yuena appearance; removed during her later audience with Situ Xuan 651 780.
Relationships
- Situ Xuan — Former classmate, recruitment target, friend, and rival. Their initial private duel ends in a defeat by his own admission, but he later defeats her at sea. Gu Yue develops visible concern for him, while their bond remains strongly rooted in competition; no confirmed romantic partnership is established 242 252 316 399 429 500 531.
- Tang Wulin — Former close companion whose Golden Dragon King bloodline shares her origin. She initially protects him, later severs their personal bond, and manipulates his distress to absorb his power. Their relationship ultimately becomes openly hostile 325 420 498 560 875.
- Na'er — The separated being who carries Gu Yue's human tenderness and affection for Tang Wulin. Na'er's attachment persists even after fusion with Gu Yuena and prevents her from killing him 531 560 876.
- Leng Yaozhu — Teacher and trusted confidante. Guides her cultivation and advancement within the Spirit Pagoda, teases her about Situ Xuan, and regards her as her own child 315 316 364 398.
- Di Tian — Loyal subordinate, guardian, and spokesperson of the Silver Dragon King. Kneels before her, protects her during bloodline absorption, and later accompanies her against Tang Wulin 497 498 875.
- Xie Xie — Former teammate who condemns her interventions on Situ Xuan's behalf. She later deliberately cultivates his resentment as part of her plan against Tang Wulin 325 327 559 560.
- Yuanen Yehui — Shares a guarded, tense relationship with Gu Yue around Situ Xuan. Their encounters involve mutual scrutiny, though the three later go shopping together 286 500 503.
- Wu Zhangkong — Former teacher who recognises her tactical ability and appoints her Zero Class vice-monitor. Later, as Gu Yuena, she severely injures his left arm during the confrontation with Tang Wulin 41 874.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Recruitment of Situ Xuan
Gu Yue challenges Situ Xuan at Shrek Academy, making his entry into the Spirit Transmission Tower a condition of her victory. She reveals five ten-thousand-year rings and eventually uses her Silver Dragon King authority against him. Although Situ Xuan acknowledges his defeat, her attempt to recruit him fails 242 246 249 251 252.
She later brings him to Spirit Pagoda headquarters for Soul Spirit Pagoda testing. Watching him overcome its trials forces her to reassess both his strength and whether her organisation is necessary for his development 288 291 298 326.
Departure from Shrek
Tang Wulin's jealousy over her meetings with Situ Xuan leads to escalating confrontations. Gu Yue explains that the trip was official business, restrains Xie Xie, and pleads for Tang Wulin's release after his bloodline-driven attack 323 325 326.
As Shrek's leaders repeatedly try to secure her allegiance, Leng Yaozhu prepares a route into the Spirit Pagoda's leadership. Gu Yue refuses Cai Yue'er's offers and eventually chooses the Spirit Pagoda over Shrek, ending contact with Tang Wulin 364 524.
Sunset Plain and the Sea Duel
At Sunset Plain, Gu Yue fights Situ Xuan with her concealed five-ring strength. After her defeat, he carries her from the battlefield to Sun Moon Academy. Their subsequent conversation confronts her fears about fate, duty, and the consequences of her choices before Leng Yaozhu retrieves her 388 390 397 398 399 778.
Their later sea duel pushes Gu Yue to release more of her true power. She severely wounds Situ Xuan with Elemental Collapse, but concedes when Golden Skyline cuts through her final beam and stops an inch from her forehead. Both recognise the other as a special opponent despite their diverging paths 426 427 429 431.
After another disaster aboard the Silver Shuttle, Gu Yue reveals part of her past through a story about duty, deception, and affection for an enemy's descendant. She also uses a portion of a reserve preserved for hundreds of thousands of years to help Situ Xuan survive 455 456.
Star Luo and Bloodline Manipulation
In Star Luo, Gu Yue begins absorbing the power escaping Tang Wulin's unstable bloodline. The resulting growth strengthens her Elemental Staff and sharpens her desire to challenge Situ Xuan again 498 499 531.
She subsequently targets Xie Xie's insecurity, expecting his resentment to turn against Tang Wulin. Her wider plan is to exploit Tang Wulin's attachment to his companions, drive him into despair, and recover the Golden Dragon King power needed to restore the Dragon God 559 560.
Dragon Valley and Later Confrontations
Situ Xuan recognises the silver-haired Gu Yuena as Gu Yue in Dragon Valley. Their battle leaves her badly injured and unable to counter his acupoint strikes, prompting her to summon the Dragon God Dragon Soul 651 654 655.
Later, as the Spirit Pagoda's prospective successor, she seeks an audience with Situ Xuan after he becomes Grand President. She proposes an equal partnership to rule the plane, explicitly distinguishing it from a master–subordinate arrangement 778 779 780.
Her conflict with Tang Wulin culminates at the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, where she arrives with Di Tian and Xiong Jun. Tang Wulin subsequently loses his Golden Dragon King gifts and much of his cultivation, but she spares his life because of Na'er's remaining attachment. In the following battles, she faces the Black Empress, Bee Emperor, and Tang San, with Mu Ye intervening against the coordinated Abyssal opponents 875 876 877.
