Since Di Qiu'er had sincerely admitted her mistake, Chen Ming didn't press the matter. After all, all he wanted was to see that she was truly sorry.
If you made a mistake and still argued back arrogantly, or even hurled insults at someone, you'd get beaten badly.
Chen Ming treated Di Qiu'er very well, always putting her first. Naturally, she treated him well in return.
She treated Chen Ming like family, as close as Uncle Di Tian and Aunt Bi Ji, and as close as a friend.
"Alright, we've been at this all night. It's already dawn."
Chen Ming glanced at the brightening sky outside the window. There was no point trying to sleep now, so he decided to find something else to do.
"Qiu'er, help me open these loot chests. There are four."
He handed her one of the loot chests and let the lucky one handle the opening. Hearing this, Di Qiu'er felt her chance to make up for her mistake had arrived, and took the chest at once.
"Leave it to me!"
As she clicked to open it, rows of weapons flashed before them: wooden swords, golden swords, stone swords, iron swords, diamond swords, Netherite Swords, Heavy Hammers, spears, bows, crossbows, greatswords, sickles, and many others.
Under their watchful gaze, the red marker stopped just a hair's breadth from the gold.
A Heavy Hammer appeared in her hand. Di Qiu'er froze. Oh no! Is my luck trying to kill me?
"Did your luck run out?"
Chen Ming chuckled. It seemed the Auspicious Beast blessed by fortune wasn't all that lucky after all.
"But a Heavy Hammer's not bad, either. At least we don't have to go after a Heavy Core to get one."
He patted Di Qiu'er on the shoulder to comfort her, but she inspected the Heavy Hammer and handed it to Chen Ming.
"You can have this. I'll use the Silver Dragon Spear."
Chen Ming had given the Silver Dragon Spear to Di Qiu'er because divine artifacts could conceal their wielder's aura.
"Sure, I'll take it...?"
Just as Chen Ming accepted it, planning to use it as a weapon, he saw its stats and froze.
[Divine Artifact][Heavy Hammer] Quality: "Mythic" Base Damage Bonus: +20 Durability: Indestructible
Chen Ming was completely stunned by the stats. Seriously? How the hell did you get a Mythic-quality Heavy Hammer?
He had only managed to open a Legendary-quality Golden Sword. Now he had no idea what to say.
A twenty-point increase to base damage—that was just its base stat! It could still benefit from buffs. It was already this powerful without enchantments. How strong would it be after enchanting?
So Di Qiu'er's luck hadn't failed her after all. She'd just used it somewhere else.
"...Keep opening them. I refuse to believe your luck can stay this good forever."
Chen Ming was determined to challenge fate. There was no way an Auspicious Beast could be this lucky.
"Alright, alright. I'll open it."
"Open it!"
As Di Qiu'er opened another weapon chest, a host of weapons flashed past. In the end, the red marker stopped on gold. She'd gotten a gold drop!
[Divine Artifact][Golden Dragon Spear] Quality: "Mythic" Base Damage: +50 Enchantment: Restores health equal to 25% of damage dealt Durability: Indestructible
"Woo! My signature weapon!"
Di Qiu'er swung the Golden Dragon Spear in her hand, and a sense of familiarity washed over her. She seemed to remember being its first wielder.
"There are two chests left. Keep going!"
Chen Ming pointed to the two weapon chests beside them. Di Qiu'er was clearly enjoying herself, and immediately opened another.
[Super Divine Artifact][Sky Saint Rift Halberd] Quality: "Mythic" Base Damage: +125 Enchantment: Ignores defense Negative Enchantment: Soul Devour (A First-Level God's lingering soul sleeps within. It will devour the wielder's body and take it over to be reborn.) Durability: Indestructible
"Holy crap!"
Di Qiu'er was startled when she saw the negative enchantment. She'd just opened the Sky Saint Rift Halberd, which held the sleeping Abyssal Sage King!
"Chen Ming, what should we do with this?"
Di Qiu'er held the Sky Saint Rift Halberd carefully, clearly unsure what to do.
"Wait. We can use the Disenchantment Table's Grindstone. The Advanced Disenchantment Table can remove a specific enchantment."
As he spoke, Chen Ming began crafting an advanced Grindstone. With a thought, the mod loaded instantly.
[Advanced Enchantment Table Mod loaded!]
He looked through the crafting recipes and quickly found the one for the advanced Grindstone, then crafted it.
Chen Ming placed the Sky Saint Rift Halberd inside, and the negative enchantment was removed at once. The Abyssal Sage King instantly burst into a pile of green experience orbs and vanished.
As a First-Level God, he naturally dropped a lot of experience. In an instant, Chen Ming and Di Qiu'er's experience bars rose to level sixty-something.
That was their experience bars, not their Soul Power Level. And just like that, the Abyssal Sage King was finished. He'd probably been the most bewildered First-Level God to die—killed by a special game mechanic.
"Alright, all done."
Chen Ming took the Sky Saint Rift Halberd back out and swung the divine artifact a few times before putting it away. Di Qiu'er breathed a sigh of relief. She was still afraid of facing a god.
After all, she was all alone now, with only Chen Ming to rely on.
She hadn't even seen Uncle Di Tian yet, so of course she was afraid of dying. Fear of death was only natural—not just for humans, but for beasts, too.
"There's one left. Should we open it now?"
Di Qiu'er pointed to the last weapon chest on the table and asked. Chen Ming nodded.
"Open it!"
As the chest opened, countless weapons flashed past them, finally stopping on a fishing rod.
[Divine Artifact][Fishing Rod] Quality: "Mythic" Durability: Indestructible
The two stared at the Mythic-quality fishing rod, at a loss for words. What on earth was this last item?
Just as they stood there, baffled, another announcement appeared in the chat window. They looked over, and a message came into view.
[Lucky Block Mod loaded!]
"Lucky Block... Isn't that your personal mod?"
Seeing yet another mod related to luck, Chen Ming looked at Di Qiu'er suspiciously. She wasn't even trying to hide it anymore.
"Mm-hmm. It should be my personal mod. I've never lost to anyone when it comes to luck."
At the mention of luck, the little Auspicious Beast proudly put her hands on her hips. She was the Emperor Auspicious Beast, after all. When it came to anything involving luck, she'd never lost.
She could probably win anything through sheer good fortune—except for events run by Penguin, like the ones with a 99% chance of dropping the prize.
After all, everyone knew that with Penguin's events, if it wasn't 100%, it was 0%.
"Oh, right, Chen Ming. Now that I've got the Golden Dragon Spear, I'll give the Silver Dragon Spear back to you."
Di Qiu'er returned the Silver Dragon Spear to him. She didn't have the Silver Dragon King's bloodline, so she couldn't use the spear's second form—the staff mode. Chen Ming took it back.
"Alright..."
