After settling matters in the East Sea, Kraken did not linger. He left a clone behind to help Sea Swallow Douluo and Huben handle the aftermath, then followed his planned route straight to the Sun-Moon Empire.
Two days of their three-day deadline had passed. He did not have much time left, but he was in no hurry. Getting the Energy Orbs was not the hardest part. The real challenge was Refining them quickly enough.
The next morning, a thin veil of gray mist hung over the Evil Spirit Forest. Sunlight filtered through it, casting dappled shadows among the trees. The entire forest was quiet and deep.
The Evil Emperor's enormous body occupied a clearing at the forest's heart. Eighty-one tentacles coiled around him like black pythons, forming an impenetrable defense. Not far from him, Tang Hao still lay unconscious in the mud, several tentacles wrapped around him and pinning him firmly in place.
The Evil Emperor's single eye was half closed, his breathing slow and steady. He looked untroubled, but his thoughts were anything but calm. This was the last day of their agreement. If Kraken failed to come, he would have to release Tang Hao as promised. Tang Hao's blood and vitality had been exhausted by his Lightning Tribulation before the Evil Emperor captured him. Why should he let him go for nothing?
Instead, he would keep Tang Hao as a bargaining chip in negotiations with Sea God Island, or even the Divine Realm. The father of a Sea God was worth far more than a few Energy Orbs.
Suddenly, his half-closed eye snapped open. Its scarlet slit pupil fixed on a blue speck in the eastern sky.
The speck rapidly grew larger. Within a few breaths, it had reached the sky above the Evil Spirit Forest.
