Background / History
Kraken was reborn in the deep sea after reaching the hundred-thousand-year level. Formerly known as Yuni, he discarded the fragmented, painful consciousness associated with his old identity and named himself after the abyssal monster of legend. His new gray-black gelatinous body felt at home in the cold, dark, high-pressure sea, though the declaration of his new name immediately drew down his delayed heavenly tribulation. 91
Following the tribulation, Kraken emerged in an unstable octopus-like form with a bone-white scorpion tail. His memories of his prior body were fragmented, but he retained traces of Wither power, poison, and an affinity for the deep sea. While fleeing Sea God Island patrols, he encountered the young Deep Sea Demon Whale Moyuan, whose familiar aura stirred uncertain memories. 96 97
Kraken was gravely injured while protecting Moyuan from Sacred Pillar forces. Tieshan initially mistook him for an enemy and charged him, but reconsidered after seeing Kraken indicate the broken sword in his own flank and the knight he had killed to protect Moyuan. Tieshan brought both injured beasts to safety, beginning their alliance. 105 106
After recovering, Kraken developed the hidden nest into a base of operations. He healed members of the Deep Sea Demon Whale clan, constructed a Wither-based surveillance network around the lair, and guided the mortally wounded Demon Whale Empress toward safety. He later used the harvested essence of Sea Horse Douluo and Sea Maiden Douluo to stabilize and revive her. 113 118 119 133
To gather energy without attracting Sea God Island, Kraken adopted a human disguise and began operating on the continent. He hunted soul masters, collected intelligence, traded soul bones, and sought targets whose energy could sustain the Demon Empress. 135 136 140 141 161
Over time, Kraken built a broad deep-sea coalition and infiltrated Sea God Island through the Coral, Sea Swallow, and Sea Turtle lineages. He cultivated a system of marked soul bones, manipulated Sacred Pillar families, and prepared long-term plans to weaken Sea God Island from within. 193 194 251 287 288
Kraken expanded his forces beyond simple alliances into a highly organized deep-sea power structure. His waters contain a breeding and processing complex overseen by the two-hundred-thousand-year Diamond Crayfish and Giant Claw Crab, while his methods and resources are used to cultivate large numbers of hundred-thousand-year soul beasts. 334 396
After becoming known as the Blue King, Kraken maintained a secret treasure-filled island and continued dealings with both Star Dou Forest and the Extreme North. Di Tian personally sought his aid in protecting Bi Ji, while Kraken's alliance with the Ice Empress developed through the exchange of cultivation methods, energy resources, and military cooperation. 198 200 203 300 370
Following his three-hundred-thousand-year tribulation, Kraken exploited the apparent weakness of his wounded body to draw six Title Douluo into an ambush. He concealed the battlefield in black fog and used the confusion among the attackers—including the betrayal of Sea Horse Douluo and Sea Ghost Douluo—to turn their assault against them. 371 373
Kraken subsequently accelerated his subversion of Sea God Island by directing the destruction of the Mermaid Clan and the capture of ice-attributed mermaids. He supplied Huben with one thousand elite soul beasts, helped arrange the poisoned welcoming banquet for the Mermaid Clan, and personally faced the surviving patriarch Eve after the clan's elders were killed. 374 381 394
Appearance
Kraken's true form is a Blue-Ringed Octopus with ice-blue eyes, eight tentacles, and a distinctive scorpion-tailed appendage. His appearance has changed repeatedly since his rebirth, from gray-black gelatinous matter to a fully developed octopus body. 91 96 179 371
- Gray-black or dark-blue body adapted to abyssal waters. 91 96
- Ice-blue eyes, often described as cold, rational, and emotionless. 96 135
- Eight tentacles in his mature true form. 179 280
- Bone-white or gray-black scorpion tail, later usable as a humanoid left arm. 96 135 207
- Blue ring patterns in miniature octopus form. 370
- Can assume the appearance of a cold-looking human youth in gray robes, with his scorpion tail disguised as a mutated martial soul. 135
- Can reduce himself to a miniature Blue-Ringed Octopus roughly the size of a millstone while retaining his characteristic gray coloration and glowing blue rings. 370
Personality
Kraken is patient, calculating, and highly adaptable. He prefers concealment, misinformation, and carefully prepared traps to direct confrontation, whether by disguising himself as terrain for days or by building elaborate networks of agents and controlled assets. 118 144 193 287
He treats power, corpses, and living beings with a utilitarian detachment, often viewing opponents as energy, fuel, materials, or resources. This coldness extends to his methods: he kills robbers without remorse, drains enemies to recover his strength, and engineers disasters to destabilize Sea God Island. 140 161 207 253
Despite this predatory nature, Kraken repeatedly accepts danger to protect Moyuan, Tieshan, and the Demon Whale Empress. He saves Moyuan while near collapse, revives the Empress using enemy essence, and takes her attack directly to prevent the rift's exposure. 105 106 133 179
Kraken's ruthlessness is coupled with a strong sense of responsibility for operations he has initiated. When he realizes that he has neglected the planned assault on the Mermaid Clan, he immediately changes course to support Huben rather than abandon the operation. 381
Abilities & Skills
Dan-Devour
Kraken's core devouring ability combines Wither and poison. It can exist as a stealthy, formless erosion or as a tangible destructive attack.
- Can infiltrate targets subtly or manifest as a direct offensive strike. 111 144
- Has become more powerful and tangible after absorbing part of Sea Spear's power, but less covert than its earlier form. 111
- Can drain life force and Soul Power from victims to restore Kraken's own strength. 376
- Can be refined into the destructive Crimson Dan-Devour, used to corrupt or drive other beasts mad. 251 253
- Was used in the Mermaid Clan banquet plot to kill the Great Elder, Second Elder, and their daughters; Eve survived due to the divine artifact Ocean Heart. 394
Scorpion Tail Soul Bone
A symbiotic soul bone that functions as Kraken's tail in true form and as a scorpion-tail arm in human form.
- Devours and forcibly extracts enemy energy, including opposing attributes such as Sea Spear's purification power. 111
- Converts, compresses, and stores harvested energy for later use. 133
- Functions as a stabilizer, rudder, anchor, and propulsion tool in deep-sea terrain. 96
- Can pierce and eliminate powerful soul masters with precise strikes. 140
- Requires difficult refining before absorbed energy can safely nourish Kraken. 111
Camouflage and Presence Concealment
Kraken can suppress his aura and imitate his surroundings with exceptional precision.
- Can mimic rock texture and coloration, appearing as a lifeless reef. 96 118
- Hid as rock debris in the Forgotten Gobi for four days before ambushing the Clear Sky Sect's Fourth Elder. 144
- Can dissolve into shadows and suppress even his sense of presence in battle. 127
- His human disguise is convincing unless he uses intense power or faces specialized origin-detection methods from a Title Douluo-level opponent. 135
- Can transform into a wisp of blue smoke to infiltrate guarded locations, including the Sun-Moon Empire's imperial palace. 398
Black Fog Domain
Kraken can release a domain-like black fog that obscures the battlefield and conceals his movements.
- Conceals Kraken and the surrounding area so thoroughly that pursuing Title Douluo can lose all trace of him. 373
- Exploits confusion and distrust among enemy forces, allowing Kraken to manipulate opponents while remaining hidden. 373
Wither Web
A large-scale perception and guidance network established around Kraken's lair.
- Uses Wither power, poison, natural energy vortices, fissures, and geothermal vents as nodes. 118
- Detects intruders and redirects them through misleading paths. 118 120
- Creates bloodline-based resonance points to guide selected allies, including the Demon Whale Empress. 119
- Interferes with Sea God Island's scouting operations. 119
Energy Orbs and Energy Transfer
Kraken stores and deploys refined energy for recovery, healing, and cultivation support.
- Restored himself to full health after his three-hundred-thousand-year tribulation by absorbing an Energy Orb. 371
- Used harvested essence from Sea Horse and Sea Maiden Douluo to revive and stabilize the Demon Whale Empress. 133
- Provides Energy Orb support to allies preparing for heavenly tribulations. 203
- Maintains multiple soul-core energy sources, including poison, spirit, water, and wind. 330
Spiritual Wisdom Enlightenment
A technique intended to accelerate the development of soul beasts' intelligence and organization.
- Developed from Sea God Island faith techniques, conversion arts, and Kraken's own understanding of souls and energy. 196
- Can shorten the path from ten-thousand-year potential to hundred-thousand-year cultivation dramatically. 329
- Suppresses recipients' independent intelligence and higher potential, making them more obedient and battle-oriented. 329
Beast-Faction Command and Cultivation
Kraken commands a broad, disciplined force of sea soul beasts and oversees systems for their cultivation and deployment.
- Can organize and direct large-scale beast tides, including swarms of frenzied sea soul beasts influenced by his power. 277
- Maintains a deep-sea breeding and processing complex managed by powerful sea soul beast subordinates. 334
- Provided Huben with one thousand elite soul beasts for the assault on the Mermaid Clan. 381
- Operates facilities used to raise hundred-thousand-year soul beasts. 396
Pressure and Spiritual Intimidation
Kraken can project overwhelming abyssal pressure to suppress other sea soul beasts.
- Instantly broke the fighting spirit of the two-hundred-thousand-year Evil Orca King and its subordinates. 176
- Causes surrounding seawater and light to seem frozen or distorted under its force. 176
- Uses fear as a calculated means of establishing obedience and extracting intelligence. 177
