He Gave Too Much

It was a night so dark you couldn't see your hand in front of your face.

Fang Mo was about to go to sleep when suddenly a noise came from the living room.

Half-asleep, Fang Mo thought a thief had broken in—after all, public safety in America wasn't exactly great. But he was too tired, so he just closed his eyes, planning to have his Stand handle it.

What he didn't expect, though, was this.

When Steve walked into the living room holding an Iron Sword, he found a one-eyed Black person sitting on the couch.

The guy had a shaved head, wore a black leather trench coat, and had a black eyepatch over his left eye. His face was tight and grim, looking extremely cold and serious.

From this distinctive look and unique way of showing up, it was obvious this guy was the legendary Motherfucker Man, the one-eyed Black Egg, the Agent Chief, and director of S.H.I.E.L.D.—Nick Fury.

Considering this guy's behavior in the original story, Fang Mo pretty much guessed that Nick Fury really liked sneaking into people's houses and making a dramatic entrance. After all, if he could intimidate the other party right off the bat, he'd have the upper hand in the conversation that followed.

But Fang Mo wasn't that easy to fool.

He slowly extended his palm, and a purple glow turned into an invisible force field that passed through the wall. The next second, the couch in the living room floated up, as if it had a mind of its own, and flew straight into the bedroom.

So the next moment, a completely bewildered Nick Fury found himself face-to-face with Fang Mo.

"Good evening, Director."

Unlike Nick Fury's ashen face, Fang Mo was smiling. "Looks like your little trick has been exposed. Not gonna drop a 'motherfucker'?"

"Fang Mo, the man who calls himself a Stand User."

Nick Fury was an Agent Chief after all, with rock-solid mental fortitude. He didn't actually curse or anything; instead, he acted like nothing had happened. "Your background is quite mysterious. No matter where I look, I can't find any information on you. It's like you appeared out of thin air."

"You mean you even checked the East?"

Fang Mo chuckled. "Then you've got quite the reach, Director."

"You seem very familiar with me."

Nick Fury's expression was calm, completely unfazed by Fang Mo's words. "What, are we already Old Friends? Or have you seen me somewhere before?"

"Since you've investigated China, have you ever heard of fortune-telling?"

Fang Mo asked.

"What's that?" Nick Fury thought for a moment, and it really seemed like he hadn't heard the term before. "Fortune-telling? What does that mean? Calculating how long someone has left to live?"

"Similar to your Divination here."

Fang Mo explained. "Basically, it means I can see the future."

"Is that so?" Nick Fury paused, sounding a bit noncommittal. "Then why don't you tell me, what's my future like?"

"Let's just say it's average."

Hearing this, Fang Mo couldn't help but smile. After all, messing with a character from the original story was way too easy. "Your ideas aren't bad... but you should know, every single person in your superpower team is a troublemaker. You'll have to clean up after them like a nagging mom. Not everyone is as obedient as Captain Marvel."

"Looks like you know quite a bit."

Nick Fury's one eye narrowed slightly. He hadn't mentioned anything to anyone about forming the Avengers team or about Captain Marvel Carol Danvers. "So, are you a member of this team?"

"Sorry, I'm not."

Fang Mo shook his head. "I have no interest in being some superhero."

"Oh? Why?"

Nick Fury asked curiously.

"Because I hate being morally blackmailed." Fang Mo said bluntly. "So as long as they realize I have no morals, they'll give up trying to morally blackmail me."

"That's a novel way of putting it."

Nick Fury said. "So, what do you want to do?"

"Don't worry. I'm not a good person, but I'm not a bad one either." Fang Mo shook his head. "I'm a reasonable guy. Since we both have our own needs, we might as well use each other."

"What are your needs?"

Nick Fury asked immediately.

"Not sure yet, but probably witnessing some supernatural events, or using your resources to practice that so-called Witchcraft. In short, causing you trouble." Fang Mo thought about it. After all, S.H.I.E.L.D.'s resources were pretty convenient and should help him unlock more modules. "But of course, it's mutually beneficial. We're all adults here, I get that. We cooperate to get what we want, and you'll benefit too."

"Witnessing supernatural events? What's in it for you?"

Nick Fury asked.

"I'm just interested in that sort of thing." Fang Mo obviously couldn't tell the truth, so he said casually. "After all, seeing your own prophecies come true in person is pretty fun, isn't it?"

"Is that so?"

Nick Fury definitely didn't believe such a simple lie, but after some thought, he still decided to agree to Fang Mo's request. After all, the guy was an unstable element; keeping him close at least meant keeping an eye on him. So he nodded directly. "I can agree to your cooperation terms. I'll set you up as a Technical Consultant. Then you'll have the authority to allocate resources..."

But before he could finish, Nick Fury's phone suddenly rang.

"What's up?"

Nick Fury glanced at Fang Mo on the bed, then answered the call. "Mm... are you sure? Okay, got it. Stay put and wait for my orders."

What he didn't know was that Fang Mo had long since controlled Steve to quietly creep over and eavesdrop on the phone conversation.

"Looks like our chat's going to end early." Nick Fury stood up directly. "Something urgent came up—I need to go handle it."

But just as he was about to leave, a flash of purple light suddenly flared, and the bedroom door slammed shut with a bang.

"..."

Nick Fury said nothing, only slowly turned his head to look at Fang Mo.

"If I heard correctly, you just invited me to be a technical consultant, didn't you?" Fang Mo slowly climbed up from the bed, then stretched lazily. "I'm pretty interested in that urgent matter you mentioned too. What do you think this green-skinned monster really is?"

On the helicopter, Nick Fury's expression was far from good.

His face was darker than coal in Minecraft right now, to the point that even the agents beside him didn't dare to speak to him.

Yes, Nick Fury had finally realized it—he'd been played by Fang Mo after all. The other party must have used some kind of weird witchcraft to eavesdrop on his call, and now here they were, with him insisting on coming along.

Actually, at first, Nick Fury hadn't agreed to Fang Mo's request at all.

After all, he didn't trust Fang Mo yet. There were still many things to observe, and if the guy had some ulterior motive, it would be trouble. As for being locked up and threatened by him... Nick Fury figured he'd seen all kinds of storms, so why would he be afraid of this?

But what Nick Fury hadn't expected was—

Fang Mo reached out and, right out of thin air, pulled out a giant gold brick the size of a millstone.

Nick Fury was stunned. Then he heard Fang Mo say something like, 'Director, you see, this is my sincerity for cooperation. You wouldn't want your agents to run out of operating funds, would you?'

Nick Fury had wanted to refuse, but... the other party was offering way too much.

Just this one gold brick, converted, would give him tens of millions of dollars in operating funds. After all, Nick Fury had been secretly conducting plenty of experiments behind Congress's back, and he usually had to scrape together research funds from his own tight budget. Now, with such a golden opportunity right in front of him, could he really turn it down?

Though a bit conflicted, for the sake of the gold brick, Nick Fury could only grit his teeth and bring Fang Mo along.

He actually had quite a few things he wanted to ask Fang Mo, but earlier there was that urgent matter. Now that the other party was already on the plane with him, he continued his inquiries.

"Don't your abilities have any limits?"

Nick Fury couldn't help asking. "Like that alchemy thing—can you really just create gold whenever you want?"

"That depends on when I can get back." Fang Mo shrugged. "Once I go back and build a Zombie Pigman Farm, I'll just buy the whole S.H.I.E.L.D. outright."

"S.H.I.E.L.D.?"

Nick Fury asked. "What's that?"

"It's what your current organization with that ridiculously long name will be called in the future." Fang Mo waved his hand, then cut him off before he could say more. "You've got too many questions. How about we talk about this green-skinned monster first?"

"You're very interested in this guy?"

Nick Fury asked. "Did you see it with your prophecy ability? How much do you know about it?"

"Dr. Bruce Banner... during a military experiment, an accident happened, and he was exposed to gamma rays, turning into a green monster." Fang Mo said casually. "You people call him the Hulk."

"Looks like you know quite a bit."

Nick Fury said. "So? What do you want to do?"

"Fight him."

Fang Mo rubbed his chin. "It's been too long since I've thrown a punch. I need to find a way to test my strength."

"Sorry, but I can't grant that request."

Nick Fury's eyes flickered as he silently noted the 'combative' label on the other party, then continued. "Even though Dr. Bruce Banner can't control himself after transforming, this matter has always been handled by the military. We can at most monitor it."

"I know."

Fang Mo nodded. He'd seen the original work, so of course he knew that in the Hulk movie, S.H.I.E.L.D. didn't show up.

In fact, Marvel didn't even have a concrete plan for the Marvel Universe back then, so each movie was independent. The villain in the Hulk movie was just the military.

"The military had already subdued Dr. Bruce Banner, but it seems something went wrong just now."

Nick Fury said. "They apparently researched something shady. Anyway, besides the Hulk, they've created another out-of-control monster, right on the streets of New York..."
