Tang San heard the term Soul Grandmaster and asked, puzzled, "Grandpa Jack, what's a Soul Grandmaster?"
Old Jack explained, "That's one of the ranks of Spirit Master. There are ten ranks, and each rank is divided into ten levels. A Spirit Master's ranks are Spirit Scholar, Spirit Master, Soul Grandmaster, Soul Venerable, Soul Ancestor, Spirit Ancestor, Spirit King, Spirit Emperor, Soul Douluo, and Titled Douluo."
"Our Holy Soul Village produced a Spirit Emperor a hundred years ago. That's where our village got its name." As he spoke, Old Jack wore a proud expression.
"Well, I'll be going now. I'll come pick you up in three days." With that, Old Jack left.
That night
The smithy wasn't very big, so Tang Yu and Tang San had always shared a bed. Lying down beside his brother, Tang San asked, "Brother, what Martial Souls do you think we'll awaken?"
"What difference does it make what we awaken? We have the Tang Sect Secret Arts from your previous life. Do you think we won't be able to survive in this world?" Tang Yu replied with complete indifference.
Tang San smiled. "That's true. I'm sure the Tang Sect Secret Arts are no worse than this world's Martial Souls or Soul Skills!"
"Enough talk. Let's sleep. Things will work out somehow. We'll take it one step at a time."
With that, Tang Yu promptly fell fast asleep, without a care in the world.
The main reason was that Tang Yu knew he had a Golden Finger. The system's Golden Finger couldn't possibly be bad, so he wasn't worried at all.
Three days later
Old Jack arrived at the smithy early in the morning and led Tang Yu and Tang San away. He took them to the Spirit Hall in the center of the village. This Spirit Hall was nothing like the ones in big cities; it was just a single room.
Inside the Spirit Hall stood a young man in his twenties and seven little children. Tang Yu and Tang San joined the children, who edged away in fright when they saw Tang Yu.
In Holy Soul Village, Tang Yu was something of a local bully. He'd beaten up every boy in his teens. It couldn't be helped—Tang Yu didn't have to cultivate every day, so he needed something to do.
The young man was Su Yuntao of Spirit Hall. He looked at Tang Yu and the others and said, "Children, line up. My name is Su Yuntao, and I'm a twenty-sixth-level Soul Grandmaster. I'll help you awaken your Martial Souls shortly. Whatever you see, don't be afraid."
As he spoke, Su Yuntao took six black, round stones and a crystal ball out of his bag.
Su Yuntao tossed the six black stones onto the ground, arranging them into a hexagram. He had one child stand in the middle, then used Martial Soul Possession.
The child was so frightened that he immediately tried to run, but Su Yuntao caught him. "Don't be afraid. Focus on sensing your Martial Soul."
As he spoke, Su Yuntao thrust a hand forward. Six beams of green light entered the black stones, which suddenly glowed gold and enveloped the child.
Soon, a small sickle appeared in the child's hand. Su Yuntao showed him how to recall his Martial Soul, then used the crystal ball to test his Soul Power. The ball didn't react at all. Disappointed, Su Yuntao said, "You don't have any Soul Power, so you can't become a Spirit Master. Go stand to the side."
