Background

Tang Yu was originally a 21st-century teenager who died after a gaming session at an internet café. He transmigrated into the Douluo Continent as Tang Hao's eldest son and was bound to the Undying Yama System 1.

The system transformed his body into the Undying Yama Physique, granting immortality, exceptional talent, Infinite Space, and eventual travel across the heavens and myriad worlds. Unlike conventional systems, it offered no missions, draws, or starter package beyond its core functions 1.

During childhood, Tang San taught Tang Yu Tang Sect techniques. Tang Yu mastered every technique almost immediately and quickly reached Tang San's level of cultivation. He later revealed to Tang San that he was also a transmigrator 2.

At age six, Tang Yu awakened Thor's Hammer and Innate Full Soul Power. Though identified publicly as the Clear Sky Hammer, his martial soul differs from the standard form through its impossible weight and innate lightning control 4 5.

Tang Yu is laid-back, lazy, and frequently prioritizes sleep or leisure over responsibilities. Tang San routinely handled Tang Yu's packing, cooking, and practical matters during their childhood 2 6 8.

He is also confident to the point of provocative arrogance, routinely taunting stronger opponents such as Zhao Wuji and the Titan Giant Ape. His fearlessness stems partly from his ability to resurrect after death 29 40.

Despite his unserious habits, Tang Yu is protective and caring toward people close to him. He takes Tang Xiaomi in, names her, provides for her, arranges her academy enrollment, and consistently places her safety and comfort first 17 19 48.
