Background / History
Su Yuntao arrives early in Holy Soul Village to search for children with the aptitude to become Spirit Masters. He initially dismisses the village’s story of a martial-soulless youth becoming a Spirit Saint as obvious fiction, but Wang Feng’s offer of the complete story persuades him to remain in the village. He becomes invested enough in the story to stay up reading it, leaving him with dark circles under his eyes. 8 9
As the village’s Spirit Hall representative, Su Yuntao conducts the children’s martial-soul awakening ceremony. He identifies himself as a level 26 Battle Spirit Master and administers the tests using hexagonal awakening stones and a crystal ball. Tang San’s Innate Full Soul Power and Wang Feng’s unusual Green Lotus Martial Soul leave him surprised; he initially judges Wang Feng’s plant-type spirit to be little better than Blue Silver Grass. 9 10
After Wang Feng reveals Innate Full Soul Power, Su Yuntao accepts a three-month challenge from the six-year-old. Wang Feng secures Su Yuntao’s agreement by giving him the promised continuation of Soul Breaking the Firmament. 11
During their spar, Su Yuntao begins confident that a child cannot threaten him, but Wang Feng’s strength, leverage-based techniques, and weighted training force him to take the match seriously and use Lone Wolf possession and soul skills. After the fight, he acknowledges that Wang Feng can contend with a Great Spirit Master despite being only six years old and encourages him before his departure for Notting City. 15 16 17
In Notting City, Su Yuntao provides Wang Feng with a Spirit Hall token that grants access to the Hunting Forest, offering further help if Wang Feng joins the Spirit Hall. He later tries to prevent Wang Feng from seeking a spirit-power appraisal because he expects Si Si to ridicule him, but accompanies him when Wang Feng insists. 24 25 39
Following Spirit Hall’s conclusion that Wang Feng’s six-thousand-year spirit ring will shorten his life, Su Yuntao openly defends Wang Feng against Si Si. His uncharacteristic defiance leaves Si Si shocked, and he escorts Wang Feng out of the hall. 42
