Background / History

Grandmaster appears at Notting Academy when Tang San and Village Chief Jack are confronted by academy guards. He intervenes, apologizes on the academy’s behalf, and examines Tang San’s certificate. From the combination of Innate Full Soul Power and a Blue Silver Grass Martial Soul, he deduces that Tang San possesses twin Martial Souls. He similarly suspects Wang Feng’s Green Lotus Flower Martial Soul conceals a second spirit. 20

Though he describes himself as an “idler” rather than an academy teacher, Grandmaster accepts Tang San after the boy asks him to teach Spirit Master cultivation. Tang San formally acknowledges him as his master, after which Grandmaster explains his theory concerning mutated Martial Souls. 20 21

He accompanies Tang San to the Hunting Forest and teaches him practical survival principles, including retreating when outmatched by opponents with more Spirit Rings. 25 27
