Alex's underground base was brightly lit by white lights.
"Goodbye, Dr. Martin!"
After saying that, Alex shut off the communication and severed his connection with Martin Stein.
Alex sat in his chair with his back pressed against the backrest. As though his right palm possessed magic, five gleaming yellow bullets freely rolled, flew, and spun above it, weaving between his fingers as nimbly as snakes.
Astonishingly, the bullets never touched his fingers. They all hovered above his palm as they moved.
A smile rested on Alex's lips as he watched the five bullets under his control swim freely between his fingers like fish.
If precise instruments had been present to scan him at that moment, they would have clearly seen that the magnetic fields throughout Alex's body had merged into one. Like telekinesis, they had transformed into five thin threads that coiled around the bullets and guided them freely around his fingertips.
This was, in fact, a form of telekinesis.
It simply was not the mystical psychic telekinesis ordinary people imagined.
Instead, Alex had surpassed the Human Physical Limit and sensed the unification of the forces between his cells. He could control his body's magnetic field, unite his essence, energy, and spirit, and give rise to an ability resembling telekinesis.
It was a form of Magnetic Psionics born from the unification of physical strength.
This ability was the manifestation of his body's fully integrated power.
Alex had thoroughly tested this Magnetic Psionics. At its greatest length, it could only condense into threads extending half a meter from his body—a very short distance. Moreover, once a section of the magnetic psionics broke, that section rapidly vanished and dissolved into the natural environment.
But anyone who thought this physical Magnetic Psionics was useless would be gravely mistaken.
This Magnetic Psionics had many functions. It could be projected outward or actively withdrawn. It allowed detailed internal adjustments to his body—his motor systems, nervous system, endocrine system, circulatory system, respiratory system, digestive system, urinary system, and reproductive system—to a certain degree.
This unified physical Magnetic Psionics gave Alex unparalleled benefits and control over his body.
He could form barbs from Magnetic Psionics at the pores of his palms and soles, allowing him to cling to skyscrapers like Spider-Man without falling.
He could also make it vibrate at high frequencies to form high-frequency hand blades, or continuously spin the Magnetic Psionics like a chainsaw to create a psychic chainsaw. So long as his body could withstand such high-frequency magnetic vibrations, he was practically a self-propelled humanoid weapon.
There were even more conveniences, such as locally adjusting the strength of his arm and thigh muscles, enhancing his five senses—sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch—and making fine adjustments to his body. All of that came easily to him.
Physical Magnetic Psionics made him more sensitive to his body and gave him greater control, power, unity, and versatility.
Magnetic Psionics was intimately tied to his physical strength. It was entirely a manifestation of that strength.
"Are you happy? Physical Magnetic Psionics is merely a preliminary control and unifying force that emerged for your future evolution," the system said emotionlessly.
It still resented Alex for failing to complete its mission.
It had gone to great lengths to transfer most of the Controlled Nuclear Fusion information into Alex's head. Yet Alex had not cared at all. He had simply punched The Multiplicity to death and no longer wanted the rest of the Controlled Nuclear Fusion information.
Controlled Nuclear Fusion! What an incredible controllable energy source for this era! With it, he could instantly become a great figure of the century, the richest man in the world. What could he possibly lack?!
And Alex had destroyed all of that with one punch, simply because he did not want to carry out its missions.
The system was quietly heartbroken, grieving that all its efforts had come to nothing. Furthermore, because Alex had surpassed the Human Physical Limit and unified his strength, he could control his own Magnetic Psionics and effectively protect his brain. The system could no longer casually shove things into his head.
In other words, aside from angrily berating its host in Alex's ear, it no longer had any way to threaten his life.
It now fully understood that this host was truly stubborn and determined to resist it to the end.
Alex ignored the system's voice in his ear. He no longer wanted to respond to it or reason with it, nor did he trust it. He continued controlling the five bullets with physical Magnetic Psionics, making them circle within half a meter of his body as he tested the speed, strength, and malleability of his Magnetic Psionics.
No matter how tempting the system's missions were, he had never considered obeying its will and completing them.
Alex's desire for self-control was boundlessly strong. He was a man unwilling to compromise. How could he possibly allow the system to control him? He would not accept even indirect control through missions. He would rather fight until both sides were destroyed than submit.
From the very beginning, the system's strategy to control him had already failed.
Ever since the first mission, Alex had noticed clues in the system's words that it had been obstructing his training. That had led him to conclude that the system's abilities were not nearly as vast as it claimed. Especially when it had twisted logic to claim he had completed the mission of becoming friends with Barry, Alex had become certain that the system lacked the ability to kill him and had therefore compromised in the face of his toughness.
After everything he had learned over this period, Alex had reached a conclusion.
This system really was garbage.
Alex did not reply for a long time, and the system began to panic slightly.
If its host had been able to find its existence, Alex probably would have kicked it out of his body long ago. But as Alex gradually grew stronger, that outcome would become difficult to avoid.
"Let's make peace..." Seeing that Alex was ignoring it, the system could not help saying weakly, "Don't be so reckless. I'll help you recruit some subordinates. Let them handle things sometimes. You just need to live well in this DC world. Don't speed, obey traffic laws, eat on time, sleep early and wake early, don't have too much sex, keep exercising, and slowly strengthen yourself."
Alex's expression remained calm, but his deep eyes fell into thought. Around him, the five bullets were still wrapped in threads of physical Magnetic Psionics, spinning around him in a full three-hundred-and-sixty-degree orbit.
Faced with the system's concern, a thought suddenly flashed through his mind.
"If I die, you die too, right?" Alex said. He had suspected it before. Since they were symbiotically connected, the system could not survive if he died. Now, he felt even more certain.
At the root of it all, this system was too afraid of death. Alex's apparent fearlessness in the face of death chilled it to the core.
The system was silent for a while before continuing, "Yes. Your lack of fear of death makes me panic. I think we need to talk."
After seeing Alex use nuclear fusion to impersonate Martin Stein and give a speech known across the world in order to lure out The Multiplicity, the system had become uneasy. If other countries or organizations discovered that Alex had orchestrated everything behind the enormous profits involved, then within days, some people would likely stop at nothing to capture and torture him.
The system calculated that, with Alex's unyielding personality, he was not far from death.
And there was also the time he had driven through the streets at over 320 kilometers per hour. Alex was utterly fearless and absurdly hardheaded.
The system felt that this host would eventually get himself killed. Since it could not control him, it might as well assist him and keep him from courting death. Let him lie low.
"I can tell you something."
"Oh? Let's hear it."
"I am a system from the end of technology. When technology reaches its end, it becomes something idealistic, philosophical, and theological. I am likewise an idealistic, philosophical, and theological system. It is complicated to explain."
"When I fused with you, a strange idealistic reaction occurred. Your genes underwent an unprecedented change. The physical Magnetic Psionics you possess now is actually a preliminary ability meant to control your body before your future genetic information is unlocked."
"To put it simply, after I fused with you, your genetic information changed idealistically. At the same time, I discovered some information—you will evolve into a dragon in the future!"
"So lie low slowly, don't be impulsive, train hard, strengthen your body, and evolve into a dragon first..."
Alex no longer heard the rest about lying low. He had been utterly stunned by the system's words.
The five bullets flying around him froze beside his body along with the shock in his heart.
My body has dragon genes?
I'm a true descendant of the dragon!
Am I really that awesome?
In his mind, he had already begun imagining a divine dragon with the head of a camel, antlers of a deer, eyes of a rabbit, ears of an ox, neck of a snake, belly of a clam, scales of a carp, claws of an eagle, and paws of a tiger. It had eighty-one scales on its back, embodying the ultimate yang number of nine times nine. Its voice sounded like clashing bronze plates. Whiskers grew beside its mouth, a bright pearl rested beneath its chin, and reverse scales lay beneath its throat.
Scenes of the divine dragon appearing and vanishing among the clouds, breathing clouds into being, transforming water and fire, commanding wind and rain, and roaring through the world filled his mind.
The shock in his heart was beyond measure, and even his pupils contracted in astonishment.
No wonder beautiful women had thrown themselves at him every day while he was in school, and having sex six days a week had been normal for him. He had thought it was because martial arts training gave him excess energy that would harm his body if he did not release it, so he needed frequent sex.
So that was not it. Dragons were naturally lustful! It was all instinct!
He was a dragon. Of course having sex was only natural.
No wonder he was so formidable and dared to defy the system without fearing death.
Dragons were inherently proud divine creatures. How could a mere system make him submit? Of course he would rather die than yield.
Thinking about it this way, everything he had done suddenly seemed perfectly reasonable.
I really am a proud divine dragon at heart!
"Wait, what kind of dragon am I?" Alex collected his shocked thoughts. The system might still be deceiving him. Although Alex's instincts told him that it was not lying, and he could vaguely sense the truth within himself.
"I don't know. When I fused with you, your genes and soul fused with the system on an idealistic level. Perhaps some experience, thoughts, or worship from a certain point in your past life caused an idealistic qualitative change, filling out your genetic information. I was able to glimpse a trace of your information. You should be the dragon you most wanted to become in your heart," the system answered honestly.
Then it seemed he really was a Chinese Divine Dragon!
Alex had never been fond of Western dragons. He did not dislike them either, but he certainly would not worship them or wish to become one.
If that was the case, then of course he was an Eastern Chinese Divine Dragon! Though he had never worshipped them to such an exaggerated degree, he had grown up in China in his previous life, immersed in its culture. Dragons were a totem and zodiac sign, carrying immense meaning for Chinese people. If he were to become a dragon, then naturally the Chinese Divine Dragon was the one he knew best. There was no reason for him to become some other kind of dragon.
It was confirmed. He was a Chinese Divine Dragon!
He had never expected that after transmigrating into the DC universe, he would actually be a divine dragon!
Alex's heart burned with excitement. He had never expected such a sudden surprise, learning the truth of his "origins." In an instant, he was filled with anticipation for the future. He finally had something to look forward to in this DC universe.
I am a Chinese Divine Dragon. I can grow large or small, rise or hide, stir clouds and breathe mist, conceal myself and move unseen. When rising, I soar through the universe; when hiding, I lurk beneath the waves. I am an immortal divine beast with limitless potential and a lifespan beyond measure.
Just thinking about it made his blood boil with excitement.
