Background / History
Alex was born in the late 1980s to an Asian father and a white American mother. His father was killed in a gang vendetta when Alex was three; his mother later died from a marijuana overdose while raising him alone. A police officer, Bert, adopted him rather than let him enter an orphanage. When Alex was ten, Bert married Aunt Merri, making Anna his adoptive sister. 2
He grew up alongside Barry Allen and Jack. During high school, Alex defended the smaller Jack from bullies with Chinese kung fu, beginning Jack’s lasting loyalty to him. Alex later used Jack’s knowledge of the Lower City to establish criminal contacts, fund an underground base, and build influence through attacks on rival gangs. 25
Alex attended Central City University, became a formal member and former president of the First Brotherhood, and retained knowledge of superheroes from another timeline. A mysterious Super System had enhanced his body since birth, but Alex repeatedly resisted its attempts to control his choices. 3 8 17
At Bert’s request, Alex joined the Central City Police Department. Director Mark appointed him a First Grade Inspector and captain of the newly formed Special Ability Handling Team, placing him in charge of superpowered crimes. 12 16
Appearance
Alex is a strikingly handsome, physically sculpted man whose cold, composed demeanor often makes him appear distant. He commonly uses black-rimmed glasses to soften or conceal his conspicuous appearance. 2 12
- Black hair, often brushed up from his forehead. 2 24
- Sharp facial features, a straight nose, high brow, thin lips, and carved cheeks. 2
- A tear mole that he deliberately hides behind rectangular black glasses. 2
- Exceptionally developed musculature and a body described as beyond ordinary human standards. 2 80
- As the Music Hero, wears a black combat suit, hooded trench coat, and a smooth silver full-face mask. 39
Personality
Alex prizes freedom and reacts intensely to manipulation or attempts to control him. He rejects the System’s offered powers when he believes they would compromise his autonomy, and he considers being used by others intolerable. 8 221
Early in the story, he is cold, calculating, prideful, and willing to use intimidation or violence to obtain results. He views his superhero identity pragmatically—as a means of dealing with other superheroes and protecting his own interests—rather than as a purely altruistic calling. 4 36 76
His personality changes after his regeneration and early evolution leave him lacking core emotions. He becomes markedly detached from past resentments, attempts reconciliation with Anna and Barry, and reflects on the difference between his former arrogance and his later emotional depth. 180 198 261
Abilities & Skills
Magnetic Psionics
Alex manipulates magnetic fields with extraordinary precision, using the ability for offense, restraint, sensory perception, healing, and mobility.
- Redirected and caught five bullets without being struck. 34
- Can affect nervous currents in ordinary humans; sufficient stimulation can potentially kill. 72
- Used magnetic pressure to force Charley into confessing during an interrogation. 76
- Detects unusually powerful biological magnetic fields, allowing him to sense beings such as Kara. 108
- Can immobilize opponents with invisible pressure strong enough to prevent Oliver Queen, Speedy, and Arsenal from moving. 231
- Repairs injuries by reconnecting bones, manipulating organs, and accelerating cellular recovery. 118 172
- The System can control the psionics in his left hand at an atomic level when Alex permits it. 83
- His heightened sensitivity makes air travel physically uncomfortable because he perceives vibrations and environmental changes others ignore. 72
Physical Prowess and Martial Arts
Before awakening greater powers, Alex had already reached the apparent peak of human physical capability through relentless training.
- Used a steel spear to push out the veins of a red maple leaf without damaging the leaf. 1
- Defeated ten bullies while protecting Jack during high school. 25
- Can kill with a single punch when not restraining himself. 5
- His unassisted physical punch carries approximately seventeen tons of force. 137
- Disarmed Al Swan and thirteen officers with throwing knives while escaping with stolen gang loot. 43
- Caught a revolver bullet with his fingers during a Russian roulette challenge. 193 194
Regeneration
Alex’s body can recover from injuries that would immediately kill an ordinary human.
- Repaired shattered bones, ruptured organs, and severed muscle fibers after being injured by Superman. 118
- Rapid cellular reconstruction allowed him to shed damaged tissue and effectively become physically renewed. 121
- Minor whip marks and broken capillaries healed almost instantly. 102
- Despite his recovery ability, he initially acknowledges that a fall from ten thousand meters would still kill him. 72
Dragon Transformations
Alex’s evolution grants him forms and energy systems beyond his human body.
- Developed the Nuclear Energy Ball to force an early evolution, despite the danger of emotional loss. 130
- Transformed into Tyrannomon and confronted the Three-Headed Divine Dragon. 150
- Maintains a human form while retaining the Dragon King identity. 230
- Possesses an Eternal Power Furnace embedded within his reconstructed body. 317
Intelligence, Investigation, and Disguise
Alex is an exceptional analyst, hacker, and planner with extensive technical knowledge.
- Identified Danton Black as The Multiplicity by comparing financial records, surveillance footage, and behavioral changes. 17
- Studied Martin Stein’s speech, gait, habits, health records, and public footage to prepare an impersonation. 25 27
- Hacked Stagg Industries and traced Chenghua Pharmaceutical’s hidden funding structure to LexCorp. 25 59
- Built and operates an underground base with a supercomputer, weapons, surveillance resources, and specialized equipment. 24
- Possesses a sixth sense capable of detecting when the System is concealing information. 34
