Background / History

Mia was seven years old when she found Matthews unconscious beside a river and sheltered him despite her own poverty. She bandaged his head with part of her dress, tying it into a bow, and declared herself his savior. Her parents had died, leaving her without a home or guardian. 7 8

After Matthews promised not to abandon her, the two returned to her neglected former home in a secluded mountain village. Mia taught him the local language and what she knew of the Oya Continent, while Matthews taught her basic martial arts. Although her parents had been mages, Mia initially believed she could not use magic. 8

The siblings travelled to the Furio Empire’s capital by performing in the streets. Mia endured hunger, fear, and Rory Doyle’s humiliation alongside Matthews, but repeatedly resolved to become strong enough to protect him. 10 11

Her magic-talent test proved that she possessed super-grade talent in both wind and mental affinity. She entered the Imperial Capital Magic Academy and began studying wind magic, while also auditing lightning-element lectures so she could help Matthews learn magic. 13 15

Mia later married Winter Utteridge despite her discovery that she was a blood descendant of the Dark Empire’s Max Family. When her third uncle attempted to bring her back to the family, she chose Matthews and Winter instead. 54 56

During the war following the gods’ descent, Mia and Winter were captured by the Dark Empire. Winter was tortured to death, and Mia was believed dead; she later reincarnated in the Netherworld as a Blood Lich. Matthews eventually found her, and the reunited siblings returned to their home material plane together. 59 116

Personality

Mia is affectionate, loyal, and deeply attached to Matthews. As a child, she feared abandonment and demanded that he promise not to leave her behind. Even after becoming a Sovereign, she insists that Matthews is still her brother and treats him accordingly. 8 172

She is ambitious and protective. Her earliest stated goal as a mage was to become strong enough to protect Matthews, and she repeatedly trains or seeks greater authority rather than remaining idle. 11 15 118

Mia is also mischievous, blunt, and fond of teasing Matthews. She calls out his stinginess and chuunibyou behavior, interferes with his romantic prospects, and enthusiastically tries to find him a sister-in-law. 12 20 26 121

As she grows stronger, Mia becomes increasingly decisive. She takes over her former Netherworld tribe, orders resistance against the John Family, and readily joins the Planar Battlefield when given the opportunity. 161 162 178
