Thud-thud-thud-thud!
The footage from the small drone codenamed Hummingbird came with sound. Since the Helicarrier was not far from the battlefield, Ultron managed to adjust the wireless signal enough to transmit both the footage and audio back to the Helicarrier.
The large-caliber machine gun mounted on the Amplified Mobility Platform, or AMP, fired bullets with armor-piercing power.
The shots rang out from the cylindrical barrel with a sound like a stick beating an upside-down metal drum. The steady rhythm of each thud was strangely captivating.
Duncan couldn't resist these machines, with their heavy industrial feel. They might not have been perfect combat units, but they really were a pleasure to look at.
Ultron had his own criteria for judging AMP mechs. To him, they were nothing but cheap, useless toys.
They had limited applications, little kinetic power, and high maintenance costs. Even in industry, lighter industrial robots could do the job better.
At most, these mechs were useful in jungle environments like Pandora. Their fully sealed cockpits protected the pilots from poisonous insects and environmental hazards, while their imposing bulk could scare off wild animals.
Their oversized machine guns and legs that could jump were, at a stretch, advantages.
So why build a mech like this at all? Why not make a mobile combat platform with tracks, weighing over fifty tons, equipped with dense arrays of machine guns and a massive ammunition supply? Even a mobile bunker would be better than an AMP mech.
Ultron considered research into piloted mechs a waste of time. Powered armor was different. It wasn't bulky, and its agility made up for its shortcomings. Besides, powered armor wasn't a mech, so the two weren't really comparable.
"So we're really just going to watch?" Alice folded her arms. Seeing humans armed with advanced weapons flee in
