Background / History

A demon initially manifests through a large doll kept in Mia's daughter's nursery. The entity possesses John Wick after he removes the doll for examination, then escapes its vessel; once freed, it can harvest souls without consent. Father Marshall and his knights ultimately kill it in a church, with Marshall decapitating it using a golden-flamed weapon. 313 314 317 318

Later investigations establish that demons are invaders from Hell, a parallel universe connected to Earth through a substance discovered on Mars and through space-time experiments.
