A Turn for the Better
After Li Xuan and Bai Wen left Li Xuan's courtyard, they headed straight for the East District of the Flower Sea.
After walking for a full hour, Li Xuan and Bai Wen finally arrived at the boundary between the North District and the East District.
The North District was the lowest-lying area in the entire Flower Sea, while the East District was the highest.
They climbed the tiered steps for roughly a dozen meters before reaching the East District.
The moment he arrived in the East District, Li Xuan froze.
In the distance stood rows upon rows of small wooden houses. Every one of them was exquisitely made, and even their courtyards were far more refined than those in the North District.
Seeing Li Xuan's wide-eyed, awestruck expression, Bai Wen merely smiled. He walked over and gently patted Li Xuan on the shoulder.
"Xuan Ge'er, I wore the same expression the first time I came here," Bai Wen said with a smile.
Li Xuan was not shocked by the luxury here, but by the difference between the East District and the North District.
They were practically two different worlds!
One moment, he had been drowning in misery; the next, he was surrounded by birdsong and fragrant flowers!
"Bai Wen, are we really living in the same place?" Li Xuan turned to Bai Wen, disbelief filling both his eyes and voice.
"It can't be helped. The East and West Districts are the most prosperous places in the Flower Sea. They're responsible for the Cultivation of the most precious flowers, so the supplies and resources they receive are even greater than those outside the Flower Sea," Bai Wen said indifferently. He had already accepted this reality.
After hearing Bai Wen's words, Li Xuan sighed helplessly. Comparing people really could make one furious.
He had to leave this place. But before he did, Li Xuan would take seeds from every precious plant in the Flower Sea!
"Xuan Ge'er, don't dwell on it. With your skills, Chrysanthemum Douluo will probably assign you to the East or West District within two years. You'll be able to live in a wooden house like this too. Just don't forget me then," Bai Wen reminded him softly.
"Who knows? By the way, Bai Wen, where's that place that sells cheap lumber?" Li Xuan asked.
"An old Flower Slave named Han Yun lives there. We usually work for him in exchange for lumber, then carry it home to make beams, furniture, and the like." Bai Wen pointed toward a small wooden house near the North District.
"All right, then let's go see this Flower Slave from the North District," Li Xuan said with a nod.
Bai Wen acknowledged him, then led Li Xuan toward the small wooden house.
More than ten minutes later, Li Xuan and Bai Wen arrived in front of it.
As soon as they approached, Li Xuan spotted a hunched old man with graying hair watering the vegetables in his courtyard.
"Old Master Han, I've come to visit you!" Bai Wen waved at the old man from outside the courtyard and said with a smile.
"Boy Bai, shouldn't you be cultivating flower seedlings right now? What brings you here for a stroll?" Han Yun turned to glance at Bai Wen, then shifted his gaze to Li Xuan.
"This little fellow has bright eyes. Not bad, not bad. Bai Wen, is he your friend?" Han Yun pointed at Li Xuan and asked.
"Greetings, Old Master Han. My name is Li Xuan, and I'm Bai Wen's friend. I came to buy some wood for a few purposes." Li Xuan stepped forward, respectfully bowed to Han Yun, and spoke in a steady voice.
"The wood this old man has isn't cheap. Little fellow, how much do you want?" Han Yun's eyes brightened as he looked at Li Xuan. Such a clever child was indeed rather likable to the elderly.
"Will this do?" Li Xuan took an Egg Skin Meat Floss Bread from his clothes and handed it to Han Yun.
"This is?" Han Yun hesitated and did not take the bread from Li Xuan.
"Old Master Han, this is food I made. It should be much sweeter and tastier than the food in the Flower Sea," Li Xuan said with a smile as he introduced the bread.
"I see. Since you seem like a good kid, how about... three of these for one piece of Anvil Wood?" Han Yun considered it, accepted the bread from Li Xuan, took a bite, and named his price.
"Deal. But today, I'd also like to take a look around the Flower Sea under your care. Would that be all right?" Li Xuan asked earnestly.
"Look around the Flower Sea?" Han Yun looked at Li Xuan in confusion, then glanced at Bai Wen.
Bai Wen raised his head, indicating that it had nothing to do with him.
In the Flower Sea, entering another person's assigned area without warning was highly offensive.
"Kid, visiting someone else's Flower Sea is very impolite," Han Yun said softly with a smile.
"Hehe, this is my gift. Old Master Han, please accept it and let me take a look around your Flower Sea!" Li Xuan removed a Void Pearl from his wristband and handed it to Han Yun.
Though Han Yun was puzzled, he accepted the Void Pearl from Li Xuan and examined it. The next instant, his eyes widened as he stared at Li Xuan in shock.
"You're giving such a treasure to me?" Han Yun asked, clutching the Void Pearl.
"Of course," Li Xuan replied with a smile.
If Li Xuan wanted them, he could make one Void Pearl a day.
As for exposing himself, a Soul Tool with three cubic meters of storage space was not enough to stir anyone's greed.
More importantly, the Void Pearl was the only thing Li Xuan had that he could offer right now.
"Fine. You can go in and look around later, but you can't damage any of the plants inside. Otherwise, this old man can have the nearby Spirit Masters come and kill you directly." Han Yun ultimately agreed to Li Xuan's request, but his gaze suddenly changed, murderous intent spilling from his eyes.
"Old Master Han, don't worry. I promise I won't lay a hand on your flowers or trees," Li Xuan said with a chuckle, smiling brightly as he gave his assurance.
"Fine. As long as you don't pull out my flowers and trees by the roots, this old man has ways to restore them. By the way, kid, how many pieces of Anvil Wood do you want?" Han Yun shook his head helplessly as he looked at Li Xuan, thinking that this adorable little fellow could fuss around if he wanted.
"Let's start with two. Bai Wen and I can only carry two back anyway," Li Xuan said after thinking it over.
As long as he had one section of Anvil Wood, Li Xuan could rapidly cultivate a large amount of it using the Green Spirit Liquid in the Little Green Bottle, so buying two pieces was enough.
"Fine, go play in the Flower Sea. Bai Wen, keep an eye on him. Let him mess around a little if he wants, but don't let him damage the roots," Han Yun said helplessly, shaking his head.
"Don't worry, Old Master Han. I'll keep things under control," Bai Wen said with an honest smile before leading Li Xuan into the Flower Sea.
This truly deserved to be called the Flower Sea of the East District. Flowers and trees grew everywhere, and their quality was exceptionally high. There were practically none below precious grade.
"The flowers and trees here are all such high quality!" Li Xuan looked at the plants around him, his eyes filled with longing.
But while these plants were all precious, few of them possessed truly special functions.
It seemed that the flowers, grasses, and trees Chrysanthemum Douluo had collected from across the continent all shared one trait.
They were beautiful!
Li Xuan was in no hurry. He wandered through the Flower Sea, searching for plants that he could use.
Suddenly, Li Xuan stopped and fixed his gaze on a short walnut tree.
[Plant: Purple Thunder Walnut] [Quality: Heavenly Treasures] [Age: 3 years] [Description: One of the finest lightning-attribute Heavenly Treasures. Cannot be consumed or used in medicine. After one hundred years, it can produce Silver Thunder Walnuts; after one thousand years, Cyan Thunder Walnuts; after ten thousand years, Black Thunder Walnuts; after one hundred thousand years, Purple Thunder Walnuts. When infused with Soul Power and activated, it can be thrown to trigger a lightning explosion.]
Although the Purple Thunder Walnut was an extremely precious Heavenly Treasure with offensive power, Li Xuan's attention was not on that.
"Bai Wen, can you see outside through that crack?" Li Xuan pointed at a fissure in the cliff face directly opposite the Purple Thunder Walnut and asked Bai Wen in disbelief.
Dear readers, two more days until my break. Hehe, Friday is almost here.
