After signing the notarized document, Cyril quietly watched from his seat and took no further part in the transactions.
After a series of successful and unsuccessful trades, it was soon Klein's turn to speak. He had been the last to join the gathering.
His first offer was the Hunter Beyonder Characteristic he had obtained from the Zimang Party's "Punisher," who had tried to assassinate him earlier. But since he had apparently already bought a Shadow Ascetic Beyonder Characteristic from Cyril, the old Eye of Wisdom didn't buy the Hunter characteristic Klein had brought.
As the gathering's organizer, however, he notarized the special item Klein was selling and assured the other members that the characteristic was genuine, even though no one bought it.
Klein wasn't too surprised by the result. After all, most wild Beyonders didn't know Beyonder Characteristics existed, and the level of this gathering was clearly not very high.
...Even Captain Dunn only knew that such things existed; he didn't understand what they actually were.
He sighed inwardly, then asked whether anyone here knew of a way to deal with a Sequence 5 Beyonder. As expected, the only answer he got was that he should find somewhere quiet and wait to die.
If only there were a gathering for Beyonders of a higher level.
Two more people spoke after that, but neither got a response to their requests. Then the Eye of Wisdom clapped his hands, announced that the gathering was over, and let Cyril, who had earned a large sum of cash, leave first.
Cyril opened the outermost door of the house and stepped through.
He didn't appear in the dim alley outside. Instead, he emerged by a window in the neighboring apartment building.
He had overlapped the doors of two adjacent buildings, accomplishing something much like teleportation.
