With the priest gone and Stia having vanished as well, the Corrupted Corpses in the sewers were finally free of all restraint and limitation, beginning to surge outward. The Knights Order led by Dulin was positioned at the sewer exit, rows upon rows of knights pouring gunfire into the Corrupted Corpses.
At first, they were able to hold them back, even suppress them. That was all thanks to the holy knights wearing "Holy Armor." These exoskeletal armors, powered by "Holy Crosses," gave the Knights Order formidable combat strength. Holding back the Corrupted Corpses had not been a problem.
However, as time wore on, the "Holy Crosses" serving as their power source grew dimmer and dimmer, with more and more becoming unusable. The Knights Order's defensive line was beginning to falter as well.
With no other choice, Dulin ordered the others to retreat, while he himself fitted the last "Holy Cross" into his Holy Armor and charged alone into the horde of Corrupted Corpses, hoping to buy time for his comrades.
But the gunfire behind him did not stop. Instead, it became even more intense. Every member of the Knights Order had silently chosen to hold their ground. Though the "crosses" functioning as protective gear had already run out of energy, the dense Corrupt Calamity pollution in the sewers was eroding them every second.
Is this... the end!?
Dulin was unwilling to accept it, yet he could only watch helplessly as the final Holy Cross serving as his "power source" went dark.
