Background / History
Bark grew up as an orphan alongside his four younger brothers in the Eighteen Duchies of the Northern Territory. Before meeting Zhao Nan, he served as a small squad leader in the Muqiu Duchy, commanding one hundred men. Although the brothers possessed unusual physical strength, they believed they could not cultivate battle qi. 28 29
Zhao Nan sought the brothers out, revealed that they were descendants of the Amanda Clan’s Undying Warriors, and accepted them as disciples. Bark was classified as an outer sect disciple due to his S-rank potential, beneath direct disciples Linley Baruch and Ace Hyde but above the registered disciples among his brothers. 30 31
After Heisai entrusted Zhao Nan with the Undying Secret Manual, Bark began formal battle-qi cultivation. He later trained with the other disciples at Wushan Town and under Doehring Cowart’s supervision. 33 34 36
Personality
Bark is initially vigilant and deferential toward Zhao Nan, responding cautiously to the unexpected arrival of a Saint-level powerhouse at his home. Once he accepts Zhao Nan as his teacher, he follows the sect hierarchy without complaint, even when instructed to address the four-year-old Ace as his second senior brother. 29 31
His greatest weakness is complacency. After reaching ninth rank before his brothers, he stagnates and becomes ashamed when Zhao Nan exposes the gap between his crude axework and Hogg’s continued progress. 65 He later shows a more humorous, complaining side when describing Zhao Nan’s harsh training, while maintaining a cold and aloof manner toward outsiders such as Klei. 81 104
Abilities & Skills

Axework and *Zhan Tiangang*

- His early combat style consists largely of repeated chops, hacks, and sweeps, which Zhao Nan criticizes as ineffective. 65

- The punch merges with space and strikes Klei with little visible warning. 104
- Overcomes Klei’s renowned Earth Laws-based defense and leaves him coughing blood after a single blow. 104
