Background

Leng Yaozhu was already the Spirit Pagoda’s Vice Tower Master and a Rank 98 Super Douluo when Lu Li prepared to leave the organization to gain worldly experience. Having watched him grow from childhood through his rapid succession of cultivation realms, she approved his departure, supplied him with ten million Federal Coins, and reminded him not to recklessly pursue romantic entanglements. 1

Her support for Lu Li extended beyond cultivation. After he remarked as a child that mechas were “a man’s romance,” she personally made him white-, yellow-, purple-, and black-grade mechas. 24 Her protection and preferential treatment of him were widely known in the Soul Master world. 69

When Gu Yue sought apprenticeship, Leng Yaozhu initially refused to accept another disciple after Lu Li. Gu Yue’s persistence ultimately earned her acceptance as a nominal disciple; Leng Yaozhu reassured Lu Li that he remained her only true disciple. 68 70

Qiangu Dongfeng’s attempt to have Lu Li assassinated by the Holy Spirit Cult turned Leng Yaozhu openly against him. She credited her sister Leng Yulai for revealing the plot while remaining suspicious of Yulai’s motives toward Lu Li. 144 147 Later, Lu Li gifted her the Fire Dragon Sword, a Phoenix God Body torso bone, and the Holy Flame Fruit, the latter enabling her breakthrough to Rank 99. 207 214

After becoming a Limit Douluo, Leng Yaozhu tested Qiangu Dongfeng in a spar. Wielding the Fire Dragon Sword, she suppressed his Coiling Dragon Staff and judged that she could contend with him so long as he was not fighting desperately. 219 Her advancement drew congratulations from major factions across the continent and substantially strengthened the Spirit Pagoda’s standing. 235

Leng Yaozhu is a striking red-haired woman who appears to be in her thirties. Though she generally wears plain clothing, it does not conceal her notably graceful figure or composed bearing. 1

Upon learning that Qiangu Dongfeng had commissioned Lu Li’s assassination, her immediate concern was Lu Li’s safety rather than political fallout. 1 144 184

She is also emotionally conflicted about her relationship with Lu Li. For a long time, she framed her attachment as normal affection between teacher and disciple, even while recognizing that her feelings were not wholly pure. 186 After Lu Li confessed, she accepted that her feelings were mutual and transitioned from his teacher to his lover. 188 190 194

Despite her high status, Leng Yaozhu can be embarrassed, possessive, and easily provoked by Leng Yulai’s taunts. Her sister repeatedly exploits these reactions by accusing her of having feelings for Lu Li. 145 148 160
