Background / History

Hirata once ignored the bullying of a friend, who later died by suicide. When the bullying continued against another victim, he became determined to eradicate it; an account of his original-story future says he used force to control the entire grade and was branded ruthless for doing so. Despite this underlying trauma, he normally presents himself as a sunny, cheerful student. 2

At the start of his first year in Class D, Hirata initiated class-wide self-introductions to help his classmates become acquainted. He introduced himself as someone who enjoys all sports and intended to join the Soccer Club. 4
