Background / History

Wang Meiyu briefly dated Bai Ye/Byakuya before the opening of the story. After only one day together, he abruptly broke up with her to complete a System mission, leaving her sobbing and convinced that she had done something wrong. Although they had known each other for roughly a week, the relationship was her first and carried significant expectations for her 1.

She later enrolls in the same Class D as Bai Ye, seated in front of Horikita Suzune. Still hurt by the breakup, she watches Bai Ye from afar, sulks during class gossip about him, and privately calls him a “big pervert” 2.

Unable to accept being ignored, Meiyu confronts Bai Ye and asks why he hates her. After he apologizes and offers to grant one request, she only asks him to pat her head. She then asks him to become her older brother, and the two reconcile under a sibling-like relationship 4.

Meiyu becomes friends with Kushida Kikyou, but hides Bai Ye’s responsibility for their breakup by falsely claiming that she initiated it. She remains uncertain whether her feelings are romantic or simply a desire to be cherished as his younger sister 5 6.

Over time, she grows accustomed to spending time in Bai Ye’s dormitory; he gives her a spare key and continues looking after her because he considers her gentle nature easy for others to exploit 19.
