The Humiliation of Mo Basi

In the hall of the Divine Temple, Medusa reclined on her throne, her beautiful eyes flickering with contemplation as she glanced at Gu Shenge from time to time. Sensing her gaze, Gu Shenge turned his head and offered a smile to his beloved wife.

"Hmph!" Medusa let out a cold snort, wishing she could just slap him to death.

Some time later, the Four Great Elders of the Snake-People Tribe and the leaders of the Eight Great Tribes arrived one after another.

"Greetings, Your Majesty!"

The eight leaders bowed in unison toward Medusa, while the Four Great Elders merely nodded slightly to show their respect.

The four elders were the oldest, and their cultivation had all reached the peak of the Dou Emperor realm, making them even stronger than Jia Xingtian of the Jia Ma Empire. However, due to their advanced age and declining health, they had no possibility of advancing any further.

The eight leaders were all Dou King powerhouses, the strongest being Mo Basi of the Mo Snake Tribe, whose cultivation had reached an eight-star Dou King.

Medusa's beautiful eyes swept over the elders and leaders. Her voice was cold and arrogant, and her posture was languid, yet she radiated the majesty of a queen at every moment. Her gaze alone was enough to make those leaders feel a slight pressure.

Medusa slowly rose to her feet. She looked at Gu Shenge and raised her jade hand to point at him. Without mincing words, she announced directly to the elders and leaders: "This man is named Gu Shenge. From this day forward, he is my husband, and tomorrow I shall marry him."

"What!"

Hearing that Queen Medusa was actually going to marry a human, the elders and leaders were stunned, looking at their Queen in utter disbelief.

"Your Majesty, I disagree! Your status is noble; how could you marry a lowly human!"

Mo Basi reacted the most strongly, opposing Medusa's decision on the spot. He glared at Gu Shenge, his diamond-shaped snake pupils filled with killing intent, wishing he could execute him right there. The black snake tattoos on his thick arms seemed to come alive, releasing a soaring baleful aura as if to devour Gu Shenge whole!

Gu Shenge frowned, a chill flashing in his eyes. His mouth is truly asking for a beating.

The other leaders also voiced their opposition in unison, while the Four Great Elders chose to observe. They knew Medusa would not marry a human without a reason; there must be something behind this.

Before Medusa could speak, Gu Shenge stepped in first, saying coldly: "Disagree? That is not for you to decide. Your Queen has already accepted my betrothal gift."

Upon hearing this, the elders and leaders exchanged glances. What betrothal gift? Why had they heard nothing of it?

Seeing this, Medusa offered an explanation, as she disdained to hide anything.

"I accepted a Perfect Sect-Breaking Pill from him as a betrothal gift~"

However, before she could finish, she was interrupted by Gu Shenge, his voice laced with anger.

"Let me correct you: that pill of mine is no ordinary Sect-Breaking Pill. A common one only increases the chance of a person reaching the Dou Ancestor realm, but my pill can help a Dou Emperor break through to the Dou Ancestor realm with a one-hundred-percent success rate. It is ranked as a grade nine pill."

"If your Snake-People Tribe wants to return the betrothal gift, you may do so, provided you return an identical Perfect Sect-Breaking Pill to me. If you cannot, then shut your mouths!"

A powerful Dou Emperor aura erupted from Gu Shenge's body. The Sun God Mark between his brows bloomed with brilliant golden light, and the overwhelming pressure caused the decorations in the palace to shake incessantly. The air rippled, emitting dull, booming sounds like a surging river as it crushed down upon the elders and leaders, targeting Mo Basi in particular.

Seeing Gu Shenge suddenly lose his temper, Medusa felt somewhat displeased. She waved her jade hand, intending to disperse his pressure, but to her surprise, she encountered resistance.

Hearing this, Gu Shenge let out a cold snort and withdrew his pressure.

With the pressure on his back gone, Mo Basi climbed up from the ground, his expression extremely gloomy as he glared at Gu Shenge. Dark green Dou Qi surged over his body, and his peak Dou King pressure climbed step by step. The snake tattoos on his arms became even more ferocious, a baleful aura soaring into the sky, and cracks exploded across the floor beneath his feet as if he were ready to fight Gu Shenge to the death.

Unfortunately, he was not strong enough to kill with a glare.

The Great Elder took a deep look at Gu Shenge. No wonder their Queen was able to successfully break through to the Dou Ancestor realm; it was because she had consumed a super-grade Sect-Breaking Pill.

As for the "grade nine" claim, she still found it hard to believe. While some high-level alchemists could refine super-grade pills that exceeded their original rank, refining a grade six Sect-Breaking Pill into a grade nine one was something even a grade nine alchemist likely couldn't do—unless he was a legendary Emperor-grade alchemist.

Since this human could produce a super-grade Sect-Breaking Pill and had reached the Dou Emperor realm at such a young age, his background must be extraordinary; he likely came from one of the great powers in the Central Plains.

If they formed a marriage alliance, the Snake-People Tribe would effectively gain a powerful backer.

For the sake of the tribe's development, even the Queen had to make sacrifices. Besides, this was something Medusa had already agreed to.

The Great Elder then asked Medusa: "Your Majesty, since this is your decision, we cannot object. May I ask what needs to be prepared for the wedding? Do we need to notify other factions?"

Seeing that the Great Elder did not oppose their Queen marrying a human, the other three elders said nothing more. The Four Great Elders acted as one; it was enough for one of them to make the decision.

The leaders, however, were somewhat anxious, especially Mo Basi, who was the least willing to see Queen Medusa marry someone else.

He knew this was the elders warning him not to speak out of turn.
