Background & History

Qing Lin lived in Shimo City under the protection of the Mo Tie Mercenary Group, but suffered routine prejudice and harassment because of her mixed human and Snake-Person blood. Xiao Ding, Xiao Li, and several members of the group nevertheless treated her with care. 19 21

Gu Shenge found her after sensing the aura of another Green Snake Three-Flower Pupil. He intervened when a merchant was abusing her, compelled the man to apologize and compensate her, then revealed that he possessed the same pupils. Qing Lin accepted his offer to leave Shimo City only after asking to say farewell to the Mo Tie commanders. 20 21

At the Snake-Person City's Divine Temple, Qing Lin learned that Gu Shenge was human and Medusa's husband. Though initially frightened by Medusa's reputation, she came to address her as “Sister Medusa.” Gu Shenge placed her in Yue Mei's care while he entered seclusion. 22

Over the following six months, Qing Lin trained her pupils and bonded with the Black Prison Soul-Devouring Python and Double-Headed Fire Spirit Snake. She later left Snake-Person City alongside Gu Shenge for the Jia Ma Empire. 24 26

Appearance

Qing Lin was initially described as a thirteen- or fourteen-year-old girl with a delicate oval face, porcelain-fair skin, and emerald-green eyes. 20

Personality

Qing Lin is initially frightened, cautious, and confused by Gu Shenge's interest in her, having grown up isolated and mistreated in Shimo City. Her attachment to the Mo Tie Mercenary Group shows that she values the people who gave her kindness despite the prejudice around her. 20 21

She is exceptionally obedient and devoted to Gu Shenge, repeatedly stating that she will follow wherever he goes. His absences cause her considerable anxiety, as she fears being abandoned. 26 55 97 98 Gu Shenge considers her simple-minded and inexperienced, and entrusts Xiao Yi Xian with protecting her during his seclusion. 64

Despite this dependence, Qing Lin reacts fiercely when threatened or when an illusion impersonates Gu Shenge to reject her. Her anger lets her break the Heart Flame Illusion Array rather than submit to it. 35 59

Jia Ma Empire Journey

Traveling with Gu Shenge under his “Juan Shoutian” identity, Qing Lin accompanies him to Wutan City and is accepted by the Xiao Clan without prejudice. When marketplace vendors attempt to extort and manhandle her, she summons the Double-Headed Fire Spirit Snake in self-defense. 26 29 34 35

Medicine Valley and Dragon Head Mountain

Qing Lin becomes Xiao Yi Xian's fellow maid, trains for the Dragon Head Mountain cave dwelling, and receives cultivation resources from Gu Shenge. Inside the Heart Flame Illusion Array, she defeats an illusion of Gu Shenge abandoning her. 41 55 59

Separation, Reunion, and Enrollment

During Gu Shenge's extended absence, Qing Lin cultivates in Medicine Valley and advances to the peak of nine-star Dou Master.
