Background

Jin Yan transmigrated to the Douluo Continent and became Golden Crocodile Douluo’s grandson. He had been an orphan in his previous life, but his parents died while following Qian Xunji in pursuit of Tang Hao shortly after his birth. Golden Crocodile subsequently raised him within a mansion behind Martial Soul City’s Worship Hall. 1

Before awakening his martial soul, Jin Yan trained diligently, extensively read the Martial Soul Hall collection, and strengthened his body through the Golden Dragon King’s influence, a hidden soul bone, and high-quality Whale Rubber collected for him by the Worship Hall. By age ten, his physical constitution was comparable to that of an ordinary Soul Elder. 4

His Golden Crocodile King martial soul mutated at awakening into the dragon-featured Golden Dragon Crocodile. The Worship Hall regarded his Innate Full Soul Power and martial soul quality as proof that he could at least become a Super Douluo. 2

Jin Yan chose to attend Spirit Hall Academy despite its connection to Bibi Dong’s faction. His purpose was to identify and recruit young talents for his own future power base rather than remain isolated within the Worship Hall. 9
