Background / History

Ye Liuyun began as a work-study student in Seven Dorm, where hunger and his reaction to food hinted at a difficult past. When upper-grade students blocked and mocked the work-study students, he used Blue Silver Grass to bind them, earning Wang Sheng’s recognition as Seven Dorm’s boss 4.

His strength established him as a central protector of the work-study students. When Boss Xiao’s group assaulted Wang Sheng and Tang San while searching for him, the students refused to betray him; Ye Liuyun subsequently took command of the confrontation. He later incapacitated nearly one hundred senior students with his Blue Silver Grass Spirit Ability, allowing the work-study students to win the ensuing brawl 10 11.

At Shrek Academy, Ye Liuyun’s level 34 spirit power and Blue Silver Grass control abilities marked him as an exceptional talent. He fought alongside Xiao Wu in the Spirit Fighting Arena, defeating the Iron-Blooded Savage Bull duo through World of Trees and Parasitism 17 25.

After reaching level 40, he entered an agreement with Dugu Bo: Ye Liuyun would treat Dugu Bo and Dugu Yan’s poisoning in return for access to the Sunset Forest herb garden. At the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, he used the area’s resources to cultivate, then obtained his fourth Spirit Ring from a Myriad Illusion Vine 72 77 85.

Wang Sheng’s death became a turning point. After learning that Wang Sheng had been killed by a Spirit Master for accidentally bumping into him, Ye Liuyun pursued the truth with lethal force. He later discovered that Yu Luokong was responsible and led savage beasts against the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan in retaliation 96 152.

Ye Liuyun subsequently pursued influence through the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect. He leveraged his knowledge of the Seven Treasures Glazed Pagoda’s Martial Soul Evolution method to secure a deal with Ning Fengzhi: he would provide the method within five years, while the sect would support him for ten 108. He later reconciled with Ning Rongrong and invited her to join his goal of changing the world 134.

Ye Liuyun is notably calm under pressure and frequently indifferent to status, provocation, and the opinions of others. He rejected Chen Xin’s offer of tutelage despite Chen Xin’s standing as Sword Douluo, preferring to follow his own path 111 118.

His confidence often appears as arrogance. He dismisses potential challengers, resists Yu Xiaogang’s emphasis on discipline and team spirit, and relies heavily on his own strength and judgment 58 79 119. This self-reliance has costs: his lack of hand-to-hand training was exposed when Xiao Wu outperformed him in physical combat without Martial Spirits or spirit power 53.

Despite his cold exterior, Ye Liuyun repeatedly intervenes for people he considers vulnerable or important. He defended an elderly man from a bullying Spirit Master, helped Dugu Yan survive the physical strain of a ten-thousand-year ring, and assisted Wang Sheng in leaving gang life 23 84 93. Wang Sheng’s murder, however, pushed him toward ruthlessness and a more deliberate ambition to change the world through power 96 98 135.
