Sand was utterly powerless against Alfonso. Whatever Alfonso told him to do, he had to do.
If he protested, someone would use witchcraft to force him to move.
He might as well obey.
Sand had just had his blood drawn and had no strength left. He struggled to lift his hand and take the potion Alfonso offered him.
The black liquid sloshed inside the bottle, occasionally forming strange shapes, as though the potion itself were alive.
Sand had grown used to taking this potion. Unlike the first time, he wasn't afraid anymore. He tipped his head back and gulped down the black liquid.
Then he clamped his mouth shut, his face contorted in pain.
Though he was used to the potion, that didn't mean he liked it. Especially after he drank it, the black liquid seemed like tiny figures clinging desperately to his tongue and throat, as if dangling over a cliff and refusing to be swallowed.
Sand felt so nauseated he wanted to vomit, but he wasn't allowed to drink water. He could only use physical means to keep himself from throwing up.
Alfonso, standing right in front of him, would make him swallow it again no matter how he threw it up.
At last, the struggle in his throat subsided. Sand let out a breath and leaned back, drenched in sweat as if he'd just been pulled from the water.
He tried to brace himself and stand, but his arm slipped off the armrest as soon as he pressed down on it.
Sand passed out.
Alfonso frowned. He was about to go over when he sensed a familiar pulse of magic power.
"Alfonso, I'm back again!" Luo Ye greeted him with his usual enthusiasm, as if he'd forgotten who had tossed him into the fountain outside the Imperial
