After hearing Sand describe the Soul-Fixing Needle, Thor's first reaction was disbelief, before surprise could even well up inside him.

"You... have an item of witchcraft this powerful?"

Thor had never heard of the Soul-Fixing Needle. But that didn't stop him from understanding just how powerful this item of witchcraft was.

In the world of wizards, the most common cause of death was war, and the second most common was Corruption!

Corruption from all kinds of causes affected wizards' bodies and spirits.

Some wizards might suffer from Corruption for a long time, eventually dying in agony after undergoing Alienation.

Others might show no reaction at all, then suddenly undergo Alienation and turn into monsters, killing others or being killed themselves.

And sometimes, Alienation caused by Corruption was even more dangerous than death.

Because for high-ranking wizards, death could still be reversed. But once they underwent Alienation... they were truly altered.
