In a mad rush, Thor reached the Far North Lands within three days of receiving the message.
The region was covered in snow and ice year-round. Even the Wizards' Robes had fur collars, giving them a strong local flavor.
Thor and Keli disembarked from the Airship and agreed with Captain Harry that he would come back for them in forty-five days. He would be paid either way, whether or not they were able to leave.
Captain Harry bowed repeatedly. "No need, no need. We'll come get you even if you don't have the money."
After bidding farewell to the ever-cautious Captain Harry, Thor and Keli walked side by side into Far North City.
Beyond the city walls stood a tall gray barrier along the northern coastline.
It looked to be hundreds of meters high. To ordinary people, it was like a gigantic shield separating them from the North Sea, bringing them endless warmth and comfort.
As a result, like the Eternal Night Empire, Far North City suffered Black Tide invasions every few years, yet ordinary people could still lead relatively peaceful lives.
There were many Wizards here, however, so ordinary people still had to be very careful not to offend them. But Far North City had plenty of work that required ordinary people, and its Wizards had no unified faction. In the end, a peculiar way of coexisting had taken shape.
"Hello, welcome! How may I help you?"
A pretty ordinary girl wore a well-fitted blue fur jacket and a dress made of thick fabric. The hem fell to her ankles, revealing a pair of brown cowhide boots.
She stood inside the inn's entrance, smiling brightly at Thor and Keli. She looked cheerful and confident.
She reminded Thor of the greeters who used to stand outside mid- to high-end stores.
