As four o'clock approached, Scott met the Weasley Twins on the third floor, and the three of them made their way to the entrance of the Headmaster's Office.
A huge, hideously ugly stone Gargoyle stood guard there.
"Good afternoon, George, Fred," Scott greeted them with a smile. "So, have you come up with a story?"
George confidently patted his chest. "Of course. We've had more than ten years of experience at this."
"When we put our minds to it, nobody can see through our lies!" Fred added proudly, lifting his chin.
"Good." Scott nodded at them, secretly amused.
He turned to the statue and spoke the password, which Dumbledore had told them that morning.
"Iced lemon juice."
At the password, the statue guarding the entrance immediately sprang to life and jumped aside. The stone wall behind it slowly swung open.
"Let's go."
Scott went in first.
Behind the wall was a spiral staircase, slowly moving upward like an escalator.
As the three of them stepped onto it, they heard the wall rumble shut behind them.
Then they stood on the staircase as it slowly spiraled higher and higher.
"Cool!"
George and Fred looked like children riding an amusement park attraction for the first time, both nervous and excited.
But their excitement didn't last long. The staircase soon came to a stop.
Scott stepped off and saw a shiny oak door ahead, with a brass knocker shaped like a Griffin hanging on it.
He raised his hand and knocked. George and Fred stood nearby, awkwardly straightening their robes.
The door opened.
"Welcome," came Dumbledore's voice from inside. "Mr. Trollope, Mr. George Weasley, Mr. Fred Weasley."
Scott and the Twins entered the particularly spacious, circular office, their eyes darting around as they took in its furnishings.
Portraits of former headmasters hung on
