Chapter 9: Final Act
Not difficult.
Thanks to good pacing in the early stages, he successfully obtained high-energy weapons at the very beginning and smoothly killed the Alien Queen. Therefore, the subsequent trials were almost effortless for Fang Xiu.
The entire process was actually more like him adapting to the power of the Uchiha clan, learning to better inherit and control this body, rather than relying entirely on familiar yet strange memory fragments.
A "newbie bonus period"? Beyond that, a thought couldn't help but surface in his mind.
However, Fang Xiu, contemplating this possibility, couldn't bring himself to be happy. After all, his current ease stemmed from the fact that the previous generation had just been wiped out.
The more comfortable the early game, the more difficult the late game.
Of course, this was merely a guess; the truth would only be partially revealed after returning.
"Killed Facehugger x16, obtained 400 reward points."
"Killed Mutant Drone Alien x3, obtained 600 reward points."
One thousand reward points in the bag.
It was a pity that the Main God seemed rather stingy when it came to side quests!
As of now, Fang Xiu only had one B-rank side quest, which he had obtained by killing the instance's final boss, the Alien Queen.
"In fact, if my moral bottom line were low enough, I could have completely sacrificed my teammates and the three Yautja to turn them into more Aliens to farm points..."
"But, I can't do it."
"After all, I was just a normal corporate slave before transmigrating, with no anti-human personality. I suppose only a truly obsessed, insane Uchiha could carry out such things without any psychological burden, like Obito."
"Besides, a large number of adult Yautja, plus an Ancient Elder, are watching this trial. If I go too far, it will likely cause terrifying variables."
While he pondered, the Earth Style Wall imprinted with a cat face gradually dissipated, and this enclosed battlefield was finally opened.
At the same time, Fang Xiu clearly saw that the battle in the ventilation duct on the other side had just begun.
The last Yautja, Celtic, had quietly arrived to join his companions, leaving the three Aliens at a complete disadvantage. It was only a matter of time before they were killed—the group of Facehuggers searching for opportunities on the edges and in the shadows couldn't get close at all, as they were all treated as fodder and cleared out early on.
From the situation, if no external force intervened, this trial could end at any time.
And that was indeed the case.
Because Fang Xiu moved!
As a Reincarnator, kill-stealing was a mandatory lesson! At this moment, the highly vigilant Yautja trio stood back-to-back, intending to gain something and add to their honor during the next defensive counterattack.
But... in an instant, two drooling Drone Aliens were kicked out of the ventilation duct by some immense force, slamming heavily into the ground.
"Boom! Boom!"
Two explosions occurred in sync.
"Killed Mutant Drone Alien x2, obtained 400 reward points."
--The Main God's announcement descended.
After a brief charge, the plasma dual-pistols were back online. Combined with taijutsu, Fang Xiu completed an instant kill!
The remaining Alien could not escape either; a kunai was abruptly shot into the gap of its drooling mouth.
Attached to the end was an explosive tag covered in runes...
A hard shell with high flame resistance did not mean the interior was as solid as rock.
Only a snap of the fingers after the previous two explosions, another roar erupted, and acidic blood splattered everywhere, corroding large patches of the ground.
This series of operations seemed to stun the three Yautja. Although there was a language barrier, Fang Xiu felt they were thinking he didn't play by the rules:
He was actually stealing their prey! Especially the cat-faced Yautja, who, after a brief moment of being stunned, helplessly knelt down and used the remains of a Facehugger to corrode a clan mark onto his face, barely satisfying the requirements of the adulthood ritual.
As for the squad leader Celtic, like Scar, he already had a mark on his forehead, clearly having hunted an Alien single-handedly with his own strength earlier. At this moment, the former began to silently fiddle with the kit on his wrist.
Generally speaking, if they knew they could not escape, Yautja would choose a tragic way to die—perishing together with the enemy.
Their self-destruct device was mainly activated by the portable computer on their wrist. After a short countdown, the device could create an earth-shattering explosion, with power sufficient to destroy a medium-sized town! "I guess they already know about the death of the Alien Queen and feel that this trial ground has no reason to exist." Fang Xiu had no objections to this.
Given the commotion earlier, while he couldn't be one hundred percent sure, more than ninety-five percent of the Aliens and Facehuggers had definitely been attracted here.
"Big Brother, as expected of you, I knew it..."
In the corner.
The lucky newcomer scurried out to flatter him, looking very familiar.
With no Yautja-Aliens, and the final boss being one and only a Queen—who had been taken out as a stationary target by him right at the start—Fang Xiu finally let out his last breath of relief:
"Hurry and escape. As long as we leave the pyramid before the explosion, our mission should be considered complete."
Upon hearing the word "explosion," Tang Tian couldn't bother with flattery and hurriedly said: "Boss, brother, help me, your little brother Tang Tian."
"Long story short, can you take me with you when you run? After we return, we'll split the main quest rewards fifty-fifty! I really don't want to die again!"
Just kidding. In the official setting, a Yautja's self-destruct device could destroy three hundred city blocks at once; staying underground meant certain death! In the face of absolute power, no amount of luck mattered! "Fine." Fang Xiu was concise.
However, in his mind, he was wondering if this counted as exploiting teammates and the "farming" routine?
In Terror Infinity, the fate of farming teams was never good.
Very quickly.
Carrying the newcomer in one hand, Fang Xiu reached the entrance a step ahead of the Yautja. Originally, there had been twelve ziplines anchored to the ground, but now only eleven remained.
Too lazy to dwell on this minor detail, Fang Xiu and Tang Tian each grabbed a zipline, the former raising a shuriken and striking the safety buckle with it.
Whoosh! With the safety buckle gone, the gears at the end of the zipline spun wildly, and a massive force coiled the line upward.
The lucky newcomer took off first.
Fang Xiu followed closely behind.
Before long, the Yautja also chose to utilize the equipment left behind by the expedition team, rushing rapidly toward the ground.
About five minutes later, the earth shook and the mountains swayed!
Having survived the ordeal, Tang Tian could clearly feel the polar ice, frozen for ten thousand years, trembling. Within the ice cavern, a scorching flame was rising, its light piercing through the passage ahead of the heat itself...
Eight Reincarnators, two survived.
The ratio was a bit low.
So, it really is good to possess power...
Fang Xiu sat on the low slope where he had first stopped, his sentimentality fleeting, for he suddenly noticed that three more ziplines were moving.
The next moment, three figures with varying degrees of skin damage flew out one after another in a sorry state.
--Side Quest: Clear the Pyramid Trial Grounds, completed.
Based on the contribution ratio, Reincarnator Fang Xiu receives two C-rank side quests and 2000 reward points.
--Main Quest: Leave the Trial Grounds alive, completed.
All survivors receive one C-rank side quest and 2000 reward points.
The announcement sounded again.
