Background

Kiyotaka awakens in an unfamiliar room after being placed into a new body and enrolled at Tokyo Metropolitan Advanced Nurturing High School. Although he retains the body’s memories, he resents the White Room’s interference and initially wants nothing more than to avoid trouble and live freely. 1

An emotionless voice identifies him as one of the White Room’s most successful products and assigns him to the Harem Strategy Project. His first designated target is Suzune Horikita, a Class D classmate he meets on the school bus. 1

He enters Class D with a conspicuously fixed total entrance score of exactly fifty points. He keeps his self-introduction minimal, avoids making friends, and initially presents himself as an indifferent, unremarkable student. 1

Personality

Kiyotaka is outwardly calm, lethargic, and detached. He frequently describes ordinary school life, socializing, and competition as troublesome, preferring to let others take credit or responsibility whenever possible. 1 28 44

Behind that façade, he is observant, calculating, and highly manipulative. He identifies weaknesses in others, uses them to secure cooperation, and treats relationships as potential routes toward influence over Class D and rival classes. 11 19 31 37

Despite his cold methods, he is not wholly indifferent to others’ safety. He protects Airi Sakura from an aggressive clerk, intervenes when Manabu Horikita attacks Suzune, aids the effort to clear Sudo’s name, and offers Karuizawa protection from further bullying. 7 9 11 37

Sudo Violence Case

When Sudo is accused of assaulting three Class C students, Kiyotaka assists Horikita and Class D’s investigation. He contacts Ichinose for information, identifies Airi as a possible witness, and later helps set up cameras to pressure Ishizaki’s group into withdrawing its complaint. 8 9 11

The case concludes with warnings for the students rather than expulsion, preserving Class D’s position. 11

Uninhabited Island Special Exam

During the island survival exam, Kiyotaka keeps his abilities hidden while monitoring Horikita’s worsening condition and scouting rival classes. 18 21 22

He observes Katsuragi’s actions, analyzes the Ghost Card system, and eventually deduces the cardholders of Classes A and C. He also encounters the injured Mio Ibuki, recognizes her potential connection to Ryuen, and begins pursuing her as an inside contact within Class C. 18 19 28

Cruise Ship Special Exam

Kiyotaka approaches the VIP exam as a contest of deduction and deception. He discusses Karuizawa’s possible role with Horikita, acquires an exam-related device from Chabashira, and becomes involved in protecting Karuizawa after discovering her history of bullying. 35 37

He offers Karuizawa practical protection while using knowledge of her past and false relationship with Hirata to secure her cooperation. 37

Sports Festival

Kiyotaka attempts to avoid attention during Sports Festival selection by understating his grip strength, but is still chosen for several events. 44 45

He criticizes Horikita’s willingness to prioritize victory over class unity, then uses Karuizawa as a counterweight to preserve a broader base of support in Class D. 44
