Night fell, and Sett waited inside a room. There were three types of monsters in the town: the speed-oriented Shadow Cat, the high-defense Iron-Bristled Wild Boar, and the Tiger Mastiff, which possessed both decent speed and power.
Sett heard a snorting sound outside; it was likely an Iron-Bristled Wild Boar.
Adjusting his breathing, Sett kicked the room's door off its hinges. Hearing the noise, the Iron-Bristled Wild Boar outside immediately turned toward Sett.
The Iron-Bristled Wild Boar stared at the human warrior, whose hands were wrapped in gauntlets and whose muscles strained against his combat suit. It let out a low growl, its thick hooves trampling the concrete road and kicking up a cloud of dust as it charged at Sett like a runaway truck.
"Well come!" Sett shouted, charging toward the Iron-Bristled Wild Boar.
Just as the man and the boar were about to collide, Sett dodged to the side and landed two punches on the boar's body.
The boar's body tilted from the impact, and the charging beast instantly lost its balance, crashing onto the ground.
"Again!" Sett beckoned to the boar.
The Iron-Bristled Wild Boar scrambled up, let out a howl, and charged at Sett once more. As it charged, it kicked up waves of dust behind it. Just as the boar's two sharp tusks were about to gore him, Sett remained calm, dodging the charge with another sidestep.
With a loud boom, the Iron-Bristled Wild Boar crashed into the room where Sett had just been resting. Seeing this, Sett quickly followed the boar inside.
"Little guy, you can't run in here, can you? Now it's my turn!" Sett said.
"Pummel!" Sett activated his innate secret technique. His fists glowed with a faint golden light, illuminating the dark room with a hazy radiance. Sett then stomped hard on the ground and sprinted toward the boar.
The Iron-Bristled Wild Boar was still dizzy from hitting the wall. Just as it reacted, it realized the human was already right in front of it and hurriedly tried to gore him with its tusks.
After rushing in front of the boar, Sett dodged the incoming tusks, threw a left hook at the Iron-Bristled Wild Boar's head, causing it to tilt, and followed up with a right hook to its chin.
With two dull thuds, the Iron-Bristled Wild Boar's head took the brunt of Sett's two punches. Pummel doubled Sett's strength, and each of these punches carried 8,000kg of force.
The Iron-Bristled Wild Boar's skull cracked, its eyes bulged, and it dropped dead on the spot.
"Haha, satisfying! Pummel truly lives up to its name." Sett didn't feel the slightest bit of disgust at the boar's exploded head; instead, his hands itched, and he wanted to find the next monster to fight immediately.
"Although the martial artists at Mingyue Residential Quarter say not to be reckless and to target a monster's weak points for a quick kill, this feeling of fist-to-flesh combat suits me better." Sett cut off the Iron-Bristled Wild Boar's left ear, stuffed it into his backpack, and thought to himself.
Hmph, one down. The hunt begins!
Meow, meow.
"Hmm? Seems like there's a Shadow Cat nearby." Sett had only walked two steps when he heard the cat's cry, and he followed the sound.
After turning a corner, Sett saw a half-meter-long cat wandering about. Upon hearing Sett's movements, it lunged at him. When it was five meters away, it leaped, extending its front claws. The claws glinted coldly in the moonlight.
Hmph! "Pummel!" Sett raised his hand and punched the pouncing Shadow Cat in the head.
With a thud, the Shadow Cat's head was blown apart by Sett, and the creature's body continued forward from momentum, landing on the ground several meters away.
"You little cat, you wouldn't let me pet you, and now you're trying to lay hands on me." Sett muttered. After all, a monster cat was still a cat. This Shadow Cat was a mutated house cat; aside from being larger, it didn't look much different from a regular one.
With a squelch, Sett cut off the Shadow Cat's left ear. "The more I fight, the itchier my hands get. Time to find the next one."
Time ticked by, and bloody battles continued to break out throughout the Monster Town.
"Haha, exhilarating! Come at me together!" Sett shouted when he saw two Shadow Cats. The Shadow Cats naturally didn't back down and attacked Sett in unison.
The two Shadow Cats hissed and pounced on Sett. Although the Shadow Cats were fast, they were only moving at 40 meters per second—a speed that was completely insufficient against the current Sett. He dodged one cat with a sidestep and backhanded the other, slamming it into the ground.
The cat that had been knocked down stumbled to its feet, while the other continued to charge at Sett.
"I'll deal with you first." Sett silently activated Pummel, and his glowing golden fist struck the Shadow Cat. The cat was sent flying several meters, slamming into a wall like a kite with a broken string. Its legs twitched twice, its head lolled to the side, and it died.
"You're next." Sett looked at the Shadow Cat that had just stood up and said, "If you didn't die from one punch, then take another!"
The remaining Shadow Cat screeched and engaged Sett in battle.
The fight ended with a black shadow flying through the air.
"Woof, woof, woof." Having just killed the two Shadow Cats, Sett heard a dog barking.
"Fine, I've encountered the Iron-Bristled Wild Boar and the Shadow Cats; all that's left is you, Tiger Mastiff." Sett looked at the Tiger Mastiff.
This breed of dog was covered in spots and had a body as large as a tiger. From a distance, it looked very much like a tiger, hence the name Tiger Mastiff.
Pummel! Sett's fists glowed with golden light again as he charged at the Tiger Mastiff. Seeing Sett rushing toward it, the Tiger Mastiff whined, turned tail, and ran, disappearing around the street corner.
Sett ran over, but the Tiger Mastiff was already gone; it was unclear where it had hidden. It seems this monster was intimidated by Pummel. I wonder what the trigger rate for that effect is, Sett thought.
"Consider yourself lucky for running fast," Sett said.
Shaking his head, he didn't dwell on it. Sett cut off the ears of the two Shadow Cats and also disappeared around the corner.
In a small alley, a Tiger Mastiff was eating the carcass of a Shadow Cat. The recently deceased cat was still fresh, and the Tiger Mastiff was enjoying its meal. For some reason, there were many corpses to eat tonight.
The Tiger Mastiff was eating happily. It had never been full while kept in a cage by humans, but it was having a feast now. However, with the intelligence of a Tiger Mastiff, it naturally couldn't comprehend what was happening.
Just as it was eating happily, Sett jumped down from a six-story rooftop, stomped the Tiger Mastiff to death, and then performed a roll to dissipate the force of the landing.
"Consider yourself lucky; at least you died with a full stomach." Sett cut off the Tiger Mastiff's ear and left once more.
Whenever Sett couldn't find monsters, he would go to the rooftops, where he could clearly spot the monsters on the ground by the faint moonlight.
Relying on his physical fitness, he could jump down from several stories without injury, using this method to quickly hunt down monsters.
"The fifth one. Generally, more than three is enough to qualify steadily. Next, I'll truly hone my blade techniques." In the street next to Sett, Luo Feng, who had just killed a Tiger Mastiff and cut off its ears, thought to himself.
Sett, relying on his innate secret technique, charged through everything. There wasn't a monster he couldn't solve with one punch; if there was, he'd just use another. Under the power of Pummel, the monsters were slaughtered one after another, either having their heads exploded or their internal organs shattered by a single blow.
As for Luo Feng, he chose to suppress his strength to fight the monsters in order to improve his footwork and blade techniques. After all, as a mid-level warrior, killing the monsters in Monster Town was as easy as an adult bullying a child—it was effortless.
"Luo Feng, if it takes this much effort to kill two monsters, it seems the Extreme Martial Arts Hall is only at this level." Just as Luo Feng was using his beginner-level warrior strength to battle two Tiger Mastiff, the youth with a purple birthmark on his face spoke from the side; this was Wan Dong, who had made a bet with Sett and Luo Feng earlier.
Upon hearing the voice, Luo Feng struck—pfft! pfft!—two lightning-fast blade flashes swept across the two Tiger Mastiff, and the two monsters tumbled to the ground, their bodies twitching a few times before they stopped breathing.
"Hmph, you'd better worry about yourself; don't end up going home in your underwear tomorrow." After cutting off the left ears of the two monsters, Luo Feng didn't even glance at Wan Dong and quickly vanished from sight.
"Hmph! Just wait to lose your money tomorrow, you two." Seeing how fast Luo Feng's two strikes were, Wan Dong remained completely unbothered; he held his Ghost Moon Blade and strolled arrogantly through the street, rushing over to finish off any monster he spotted with two strikes.
Over a thousand prospective martial artists were slaughtering their way through this Monster Town; some were so terrified during their first fight with a monster that they immediately pressed their distress buttons. Others were pale with fear but continued to search for the next monster. Still others were enjoying the slaughter, becoming more and more excited!
"The eighteenth one." Sett had just faced two Iron-Haired Porcupine simultaneously; although the two Iron-Haired Porcupine were troublesome, they still met their end under Sett's Pummel.
