Background / History

Baron was raised by the Shafiq family with a strong sense of pure-blood responsibility. His parents taught him that a family’s “glory” rests on preserving history—including its failures—and using that knowledge to avoid repeating past mistakes. They also taught him advanced magic and Dark Arts intended for self-defense. 11 26

Before arriving at Hogwarts in 1990, Baron had already learned much of the early Hogwarts curriculum from his family. He was sorted almost immediately into Slytherin, a result he received with visible pride. 6 11

Unlike many of his housemates, Baron rejects blood supremacy and considers Voldemort a disgrace to Slytherin. He believes Slytherin’s purpose is to protect wizards and that pure-blood prestige should come from service rather than domination. Baron is a traditional, honor-conscious aristocrat: proud, disciplined, martial, and deeply concerned with responsibility. He wants Slytherin to regain its integrity, though his initial belief that he could personally reform the house made him impatient and overly protective. 19 25

He is also skeptical and methodical. When Professor Baker asked the boys to trust him despite possessing a Dark artifact, Baron insisted that good intentions were insufficient without safeguards and produced an exceptionally detailed Mental Imprint Contract. 23 25 26

Despite being a Slytherin pure-blood, Baron consistently reaches beyond house divisions. He attended Gryffindor Quidditch events to ease hostility toward Slytherin, socializes comfortably with students from other houses, and later helps Avada produce Basilisk-warning devices to protect Muggle-born students. 20 43 138
