Background / History
The Xiao Clan is based in Wutan City and is described as the surviving main line of a once-dominant clan on the Dou Qi Continent. Its bloodline is considered severed, and the clan had declined to the point that Da Dou Shi-level experts were its remaining high-end strength. The Ancient Clan is stated to have subjected it to hidden suppression after its earlier fall. 2 74
When Xiao Ling tested at the eighth stage of Dou Power at age six, the clan was shocked by his talent. After he privately revealed that he had reached Dou Practitioner, Xiao Zhan and the senior leadership concealed his true strength and permitted him to hunt in the back mountain, recognizing the value of protecting him. 1 3
Under Xiao Ling's guidance, the clan strengthened its younger generation through morning lessons, improved techniques, assessments, hunting competitions, medicinal resources, and personal training. The Year-End Assessment was expanded to include a Hunting Competition against captured magic beasts, while rewards included a Second-Rank Breakthrough Pill and clan resources. 5 7
Xiao Ling also taught the juniors the child volume of the Zi Wu Body Tempering Technique, an auxiliary technique that increased their cultivation speed. His training established a culture in which disputes among juniors were settled through quarterly or year-end assessments rather than allowed to become lasting internal feuds. 3 8
Gu Yuan entrusted Xiao Xun'er to Xiao Ling and provided the mid-grade Earth-class Flame Sun Technique. Xiao Ling handed the method to Xiao Zhan, while the clan publicly presented Xun'er's arrival as the return of a branch-clan member to the ancestral fold. The senior leadership warned their juniors not to provoke her. 4 74
The clan gained the deeds to two rival marketplaces after the martial competition that interrupted its Year-End Assessment, although the Aoba and Jialie Families subsequently obstructed their handover while Xiao Ling was away. The clan's youths later attracted considerable attention during Jia Nan Academy's recruitment, prompting smaller local factions to approach Xiao Zhan about supporting the Xiao Clan's rise. Xiao Zhan designated information concerning Xiao Ling as a matter of the highest importance, forbidding disclosure without his consent. 13 36 53 56
Xiao Ling later used Blood Coagulation Powder and other medicinal products to expand the clan's market influence, deliberately drawing the Aoba and Jialie Families into a Hunting Tournament. The clan's elders accepted his plan to eliminate the rival families and support the clan's future growth. 74 75 76 81
The success of Blood Coagulation Powder reinforced smaller factions' willingness to follow the clan and increased revenue from its other businesses. Recognizing that wealth could attract enemies stronger than the clan, Xiao Ling supplied Xiao Zhan with a breakthrough pill and proposed cooperation with the Miteer Auction House. 82 87 101
The Xiao Clan organized the large-scale Hunting Tournament in Qingshan Town, fielding ten selected juniors under Xiao Wu's command. The tournament ended with the Xiao Clan's victory, Aoba Pa's surrender, and the effective collapse of the former three-family balance in Wutan City. 103 104 105 111 113 142
Following the tournament, Xiao Ling proposed an alliance centered on the Xiao Clan to integrate Wutan City's forces and resources. The Xiao Alliance was formally established, with Xiao Zhan as Alliance Leader, Xiao Ling as Young Alliance Leader, and Ling Ying serving as Supreme Elder under the identity of Gu Yao. 147 149
The clan's influence subsequently extended through an alliance controlling both Wutan City and Qingshan Town. During the war between the Snake-People Tribe and the Jia Ma Empire, the Xiao Alliance and Miteer Family jointly supplied Blood Coagulation Powder. By Xiao Yan's sixth birthday, the alliance possessed two Dou Ling experts and several Da Dou Shi experts, while Xiao Yan himself had become its other Young Alliance Leader. 226 261 265
After an absence of a little over a year, Xiao Ling returned to the clan with Yun Yun. News of his actions in the Imperial Capital had already reached Xiao Zhan through Princess Yao Yue. His return was warmly received by the younger clan members, and he discussed leaving Yun Yun behind to help look after the clan when he and Xun'er departed. 294

Major Events
Year-End Assessment
Xiao Ling reforms the clan's assessment by adding a Hunting Competition to the arena tournament. The event demonstrates the growing strength and discipline of the younger generation, including Xiao Yu and Xiao Wu. 5 7 9
The Hunting Competition uses ten captured magic beasts, including Green Wood Rats, Gale Wolves, and Gale Leopards, with prey assigned by drawing lots and withdrawal permitted for safety. The first two places receive second-grade Breakthrough Pills and allocations of the following year's clan resources, while other leading contestants receive pills or gold coins. 7
Xiao Yu and Xiao Wu initially tie at the eighth stage of Dou Power in cultivation testing, concealing their actual strength. Xiao Yu defeats Xiao Wu in the arena final with Sword Finger, but Xiao Ling ultimately announces them as joint first-place finishers after the confrontation with the rival families; Xiao Yan is placed tenth. 8 9 13
Conflict with the Aoba and Jialie Families
The Aoba and Jialie Families intrude upon the Xiao Clan's assessment and later challenge it through martial competition and political pressure. Xiao Ling and Xiao Zhan confront them directly, while the clan prepares a long-term plan to remove both rival families. 9 10 12 74 75 76
Xiao Yan defeats Aoba Hu in the first exchange. The rival families then stake their large marketplaces against Foundation Establishment Powder, sending Wu Ming to fight Xiao Yu. Xiao Ling intervenes when Xiao Yu is endangered and collects the marketplace deeds and compensation. 11 12 13
The two families subsequently delay transferring the marketplaces. Their financial position deteriorates further as Blood Coagulation Powder draws business toward the Xiao Clan, prompting them to seek outside support and participate in the planned Hunting Tournament. 36 101
Qingshan Town Hunting Tournament
The Xiao Clan hosts a three-day Hunting Tournament in the Magic Beast Mountain Range. Participants may use any method, and conflicts between competitors carry no later pursuit. The clan's juniors fight the Aoba and Jia juniors, while Xiao Ling's Soul Clone intervenes only to protect his own people from lethal attacks. 103 104 105 125 132 134
The competition is open to participants over four and under sixteen regardless of status. Xiao Ling allocates ten thousand bottles of Blood Coagulation Powder and three hundred thousand gold coins toward the rewards, using the event to strengthen the clan's reputation as well as test its juniors. 103 104
The fighting escalates when the rival juniors use Black Fiend Profound Thunder. Xiao Yu protects injured and younger clan members, Xiao Yan borrows Yao Lao's power, and Xiao Ling's Soul Clone heals Xiao Yu and eliminates an immediate threat. Xiao Wu consumes a life-saving pill to continue fighting at Nine-Star Dou Shi strength. 132 133 134
After Aoba Hu is killed, Aoba Pa attacks Xiao Zhan, and the conflict spreads to the senior members of the three families. Xiao Zhan fights both rival heads, while the First Elder kills the Aoba Family's Third Elder. Xiao Zhan's eventual revelation of Dou Ling cultivation confirms the clan's decisive advantage. Jia Liebi offers to merge his family into the Xiao Clan in exchange for mercy, but the offer is not accepted. 135 136 142
Elimination of Rival Families
As part of the campaign against the rival families, Xiao Ling exterminates the Aoba Family and Jialie Family, then orders the Xiao Clan to raid both estates. During the Aoba Family raid, the clan discovers a hidden underground treasure protected by a formation. 120 122 123
The Shadow Guards and juniors conduct the looting with clearly divided areas and two-person teams, collecting valuable property for later clan distribution. An Jiu discovers the concealed treasure, and Xiao Ling orders the raiding party to withdraw before attempting to break its protective formation. 123
Formation of the Xiao Alliance
With Wutan City's power structure transformed, the Xiao Clan convenes local factions and establishes the Xiao Alliance. Member families receive one hundred bottles of Blood Coagulation Powder in celebration, and the alliance begins integrating the city's resources. 147 148 149 150
At the founding meeting, Clan Leader Liu and four companions oppose the alliance and insult the Xiao Clan. Xiao Ling kills them upon arriving, eliminating the immediate resistance. Ling Ying, posing as Gu Yao, then announces his position as Supreme Elder and promises protection to those who contribute wholeheartedly to the alliance. 149
Xiao Ling later proposes covert assessments of City Lord Rong and the factions aligned with the clan to identify useful personnel and establish clearer rules. When Xiao Zhan worries that this may cause dissatisfaction, Xiao Ling argues that adequate rewards will secure cooperation. 159
Wartime Medicine Supply
During the conflict between the Snake-People Tribe and the Jia Ma Empire, the Xiao Alliance jointly supplies Blood Coagulation Powder with the Miteer Family. Xiao Ding and Xiao Li acknowledge that Xiao Ling's leadership has raised the clan's position without using his popularity to suppress internal opponents. 226
Xiao Yan's Sixth Birthday
The Xiao Alliance hosts a large celebration for Xiao Yan's sixth birthday, decorating Wutan City and its Qingshan Town branch. Xiao Yan breaks through from Nine-Star Dou Zhe to One-Star Dou Shi before attending the banquet, further enhancing the Xiao family's prestige. 261 265
Visiting families seek closer ties through possible marriage arrangements, but Xiao Zhan declines to decide Xiao Yan's future on his behalf and emphasizes Xiao Ling's influence over such matters. Xun'er delivers a gift from herself and Xiao Ling, along with Xiao Ling's advice that Xiao Yan should enjoy life rather than devote himself exclusively to cultivation. 261 265
Xiao Ling's Homecoming
Xiao Ling returns to Wutan City after a little over a year away and asks Xiao Zhan and City Lord Rong not to publicize his return because his stay will be brief. Xiao Zhan agrees to turn away visitors seeking confirmation. Xiao Ling introduces Yun Yun as his girlfriend, and the clan leadership receives her respectfully. 294
The juniors greet Xiao Ling enthusiastically, and Xiao Wu, Xiao Yu, and others gather to visit his residence. Xiao Ling distributes pills and provides magic beast meat to be shared among the clan. Yun Yun observes that his standing rests on personal affection and charisma as well as strength. 294
During discussions with Xun'er, Xiao Ling plans for Yun Yun to stay behind and help protect the clan. Xun'er reports that Gu Yuan has promised to watch powerful Soul Hall members and prevent further Dou Zong experts from entering the Jia Ma Empire. She also confirms that Xiao Yan has departed to gain experience with Yao Lao, a decision Xiao Ling supports. 294
