Background / History

Xiao Zhan's biological brother was killed by Aoba Pa during a struggle over a marketplace two years before the story begins. The deceased brother was Xiao Ling's father, making Xiao Zhan Xiao Ling's uncle. At the time, the Xiao Clan lacked the strength to directly suppress the Aoba Family and avenge the death. 1 75 76

He later attempts to explain the clan's inaction to Xiao Ling, recognizing that his nephew had grown withdrawn and resentful after his father's death. Xiao Zhan considers Xiao Ling indispensable to the Xiao Clan's present and future. 75 76
