The Other Part

Honestly, it was hard to describe Wang Hu's expression in words.

At first glance, he did seem to be smiling, the corners of his mouth lifted slightly, showing just the right amount of teeth, like Colonel Sanders' standard customer-service smile—yet his right eye was glancing downward while his left eye politely watched Zhou You.

A normal person's face was a whole; it was difficult to make any expression that was out of sync. Yet Wang Hu seemed as though his nose was a nose, his eyes were eyes, his mouth was a mouth, and his ears were ears—his features were all independent of one another, unrelated, and able to function separately.

After a moment, he spoke in a hoarse voice.

"Brother, nice to meet you. I'm Wang Hu. What, you know me? That makes things easy, then. Why are you risking your life over that little bit of gang money? Listen to me—work with your big brother, and I guarantee you'll make a fortune."

He was not speaking to Zhou You, nor was he speaking to anyone else in the room—he was as if imitating Wang Hu's own thoughts. A moment later, his voice changed into one filled with terror.

"I-I really don't know anything. You're asking where the thing is? It's in the basement. I'll take you there. Please, spare my life."

This time, he took on the tone of a housewife.

Zhou You glanced toward the person in question and saw only an utterly cold, detached face, as though none of this had anything to do with her.

Then came another voice, greedy this time.

"Brother Xu, I got my hands on something really good. Really, I'm not fooling you this time, and I'm not asking to borrow money from you either. After all these years, you've taken
