Of course, with Zhou You's penchant for meddling, if the work involved beating someone up or killing a few surviving remnants, he would have jumped at it with glee. But after what had happened at the factory, even an idiot could figure out that Sansan would never assign him fieldwork again.
So, aside from fieldwork, what other work was there?
Zhou You glanced at the mountain of documents, and his feet silently shuffled two steps backward.
The door was right there. All he needed was an excuse, and with his speed, he could slip away in the blink of an eye...
But as though she had anticipated his move, Sansan sighed.
"Brother."
Someone's feet stopped dead.
Sansan was usually a gentle girl, but once she got serious, even a seasoned old fox like Uncle Wang was afraid of her, let alone Zhou You.
And so he stiffly turned around and forced a smile.
"Uh, I've just been standing too long. My legs were getting sore... Anyway, is there anything you need me to do?"
Sansan said nothing. She simply kept staring at him.
Zhou You soon surrendered. He pulled out the chair opposite her, sat down, and picked up a pen with the grim resolve of a man marching to his death.
"All right, I'm ready. Bring it on."
A few seconds later, Sansan couldn't help laughing.
"Brother, what are you doing?"
"It's just paperwork, right? I'll do it. Oh, Wang Pingling, make me a few cups of coffee. The bitterest kind, without a speck of sugar..."
But Sansan stopped him.
"There's no need. I just wanted to talk to you about something. Didn't you want an audience with the King?"
At that, Zhou You immediately sat up straight.
