Background / History

Sansan lived in Huayuan District during the Moon Chaser script, where she regarded the amnesiac Zhou You as her brother. The two survived in extreme poverty; she was blind and suffering from contamination, yet continued cooking, cleaning, and reading Braille while worrying about him. 635 636 643

When aberrations invaded the city during the Withering Tide, Sansan led Wang Pingling through smuggling tunnels that her brother had prepared as an emergency route. Though blind, she navigated by touch and the markings carved into the tunnel walls. 684

After reaching Paradise, Sansan was presented as the Lin Family’s Elector, initially explaining that she had taken the place of the supposedly deceased true heir as part of an arrangement with Uncle Wang. 729 At the King Selection Ceremony, however, she voluntarily submitted to a bloodline test; the result confirmed that she was the genuine heir of the Lin Family. 737 738

Following the struggle between the Four Great Families, Sansan accepted the support of the Lin Family’s allies and was proclaimed Paradise’s new King. She remained restrained and diligent after taking power, personally reviewing state documents rather than becoming complacent. 765
