Background / History

Shiina initially spends most of her free time reading in the library, where Aoyama Shiki approaches her to arrange an information trade with Class 1-C and Ryuen Kakeru. Though soft-spoken, she quickly understands Aoyama’s pricing strategy and questions why he selected her as an intermediary. 5

Ryuen comes to recognize Shiina as Class 1-C’s most reliable thinker. After she performs well in an early assignment, she is given responsibility for handling the steady flow of intelligence collected from the other first-year classes. She can work with Ryuen’s coercive leadership without endorsing every aspect of it, while wishing her classmates would stop fighting each other. 7 13
