There were less than ten days left until Kung Fu Panda opened nationwide.
That day, Zucker finally wrapped up all his work in New York and flew back to Los Angeles with a connecting flight.
"Boss, here are the materials you asked for."
On the plane, Alexander, his chief assistant, handed him a file.
Zucker took it but didn't look through it right away. Instead, he asked, "Alexander, how long have you been working as my assistant?"
"..."
The unexpected question caught Alexander off guard, but he quickly collected himself. "Boss, I started working as your assistant on August 5, 1998. That means it's been a full five years."
Zucker sighed. "That's quite a while."
"Yes."
Alexander nodded. He wasn't sure what Zucker was getting at, but he had a feeling.
"Boss, what is it?"
Alexander ventured the question cautiously.
Zucker narrowed his eyes and smiled. "Back at UPN, you were the youngest executive in the entire network, a record-breaker. Many of the people who started around the same time as you are now at level A13, and a few of the standouts have even made it to A15. Don't you have any thoughts about where you are now?"
Alexander: "..."

He had plenty!
Alexander was currently Zucker's chief assistant and director of the president's office. It was a high-ranking position, and since he was always at Zucker's side, he was practically the palace's chief steward!
Even the presidents of the subsidiaries;
the senior vice presidents at corporate headquarters;
and even Victor, the group's CEO, sometimes went out of their way to curry favor with him.
And yet Alexander was only at level A12!
